India Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday started his 80th Independence Day address to focus on India’s economic and technological progress while making sure families affected by floods and landslide in this crisis country stands with them. While speaking at the Red Fort, PM Modi also pushes for India’s self-reliance in manufacturing semi-conductors.
PM Modi’s Independence Day address from Red Fort highlighted India’s economic and digital progress, including manufacturing boosts, semiconductor plant development, and expanded piped gas networks, while offering support to flood-affected families and emphasizing self-reliance.
PM Modi Assures Families Hit By Floods, Landslides
While starting his address PM Modi showed solidarity with people got affected with natural disasters, Modi said, “My dear Indians, in the past few days, some parts of the country have witnessed floods and landslides, and many families have been affected. We fully understand their pain and suffering. I assure the affected families that the entire country stands with them.”
In last few months, states like Assam, Kerala, Uttarakhand and Nagaland have badly affected by heavy monsoon rainfall and landslide due to flood.
PM Highlights India’s Economic and Digital Growth
PM Modi also said that India had rapidly shown progress in last 12 years in manufacturing, infrastructure, digital technology, and welfare delivery. He mentioned defence produced also had increased almost fourfold, electronics manufacturing almost sevenfold and modern railway coach into 21 times better.
He mentioned the growth in mobile phone manufacturing, internet usage, patent grants and digital transactions. “The speed and scale at which this work has been executed-this momentum, this expansion, and these achievements-represent a transformation witnessed for the first time since independence, all within the last decade,” he added.
Atmanirbhar Bharat Remains Key Focus
In major of his address he focused on reducing India’s dependence on imports. PM Modi said, “Becoming an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ is crucial. That is why, over the past few years, our conviction has been that India should no longer live in dependence on other nations; we must become self-reliant.”
He also pointed towards India’s semiconductor growth mentioning three major semiconductor plants have already been established and production has also begun for exports. He said five to eight plants will be starting operations in 7-8 years.
Piped Gas Connections Expand Across India
PM Modi also mentioned the expansion of pipe line gas infrastructure. He said, “12 years ago, piped gasline was available in only 70 cities. In the last 12 years, this number has grown to 700 cities. Today, 1.75 crore households are connected to piped gas lines in the country.”
PM Modi’s address was more on these infrastructure figures alongside welfare measures, digital expansion and manufacturing growth, presenting self-reliance and improve public services in India.
