Hours ahead of the Monsoon parliament session and the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march – Delhi police has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in several parts of the National Capital.

Delhi Police implemented prohibitory orders under Section 163 BNSS across New Delhi, banning gatherings of 5+ people except at Jantar Mantar, ahead of the Monsoon Parliament session and a planned ‘Sansad Chalo’ march.

According to this order, groups of five or more people are prohibited except at the designated protest site.

The police have also stated that no permission has been sought or granted for any march towards the Parliament scheduled for July 20, 2026. The citizens have been advised to not take part in any unauthorised gathering or procession.

Section 163 In Force Across New Delhi District

The Delhi Police Section 163 BNSS are currently in effect throughout New Delhi district, except at the officially designated protest area at Jantar Mantar.

The Delhi police issued an official statement on the traffic advisory warning commuters about heavy congestion around the Parliament and nearby areas.

In view of reports of a proposed march to Parliament by CJP on 20.07.2026 (Monday), Delhi Police hereby categorically clarifies that no permission has been sought or granted for any such protest march/procession.

Several major roads are likely to witness traffic restrictions, including:

  • Rafi Marg
  • Motilal Nehru Marg
  • Maulana Azad Road
  • K. Kamaraj Marg
  • Raisina Road
  • Rajendra Prasad Road
  • Parliament Street
  • Ashoka Road
  • Talkatora Road
  • Pandit Pant Marg
  • Rakab Ganj Gurudwara Road

It is also advised to avoid key junctions such as – Vijay Chowk, Boat Club, Rail Bhawan Roundabout, Patel Chowk, Sunehri Masjid Roundabout, Boota Singh Roundabout, Prime Chowk, GRG Roundabout and Jalebi Chowk.

Alternate Routes Suggested For Commuters

It is a Monday morning and congestion is a headache but here are alternate routes advised. Commuters have been advised to use Janpath, Man Singh Road, Akbar Road, Teen Murti Marg, Shanti Path, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Panchsheel Marg, Vinay Marg, Outer Circle in Connaught Place, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, RML Roundabout, Mother Teresa Crescent Road, 11 Murti and Sardar Patel Marg.

Authorities have requested motorists to remain patient, follow traffic rules and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed across the city.

Security Tightened Across Central Delhi

The security has been beefed up in New Delhi district ahead of the Parliament Session. Barricades, additional police force, vehicle checking has been intensified at entry points leading to the parliament.
