According to actress Shweta Tiwari, a new twist has occurred in her online harassment case as she claims that an MNS advocate reached out to her after she had spoken out about being harassed via Instagram.
Actress Shweta Tiwari reported online harassment via Instagram, prompting MNS advocate Snehal Adarkar’s team to identify the accused and secure an apology within three days; Tiwari thanked them while stressing the need for social media platforms to address the larger issue of cyber abuse.
Shweta stated that the team was quick enough to act in just three days and managed to track down the accused who also sent her a handwritten apology letter with his contact number. While Shweta thanked Raj Thackeray, advocate Snehal Adarkar and the MNS team, she also pointed out the menace of cyber harassment faced by women.
Shweta Tiwari Shares Update After Online Abuse Complaint
Shweta went to Instagram Stories on August 27 to tell everyone how things turned out for her after posting the screenshots of her receiving abusive messages and raising concerns about the behavior of people supporting Raj Thackeray.
As per Shweta, the advocate of MNS named Snehal Adarkar approached her once the problem was addressed to him.
It took just three days for them to figure out who was behind the harassment.
MNS Team Sends Abuser’s Number And Apology
Shweta claimed that she was also given the mobile number of the alleged abuser and an apology letter in hand written form.
In her post, she praised Adarkar and the entire team of MNS for addressing the matter seriously by conducting the investigation without the need for follow-ups on her part.
It also made her feel that the matter had been addressed in a serious manner.
Advocate Explains that the Abuser is Not a Member of the MNS
As per Shweta, Snehal Adarkar even clarified that the person alleged to have sent abusive messages is not a member of the MNS.
However, she was thankful for their reaction, as she found it essential for her to know that the abuse to women is not being ignored.
Shweta Says Online Abuse Is A Much Bigger Problem
While Shweta welcomed the action, she said the incident made her think about the larger issue of online abuse.
The actor pointed out that identifying one person does not solve the wider problem of people using social media accounts to abuse others while believing they can remain anonymous.
She questioned what can be done about the thousands or even millions of people who hide behind screens and target others online.
Actor Calls For Action From Social Media Platforms
Shweta also urged technology companies and social media platforms to find stronger ways to tackle online harassment, particularly the abuse faced by women.
For her, the incident was not simply about one abusive message or one individual. She said it reflects a much larger challenge surrounding online behaviour and accountability.
Despite raising questions about the alleged supporters earlier, Shweta concluded her update by thanking Raj Thackeray and his team for taking her complaint seriously.
The actor’s latest statement shows that while she appreciated the quick response, she believes more needs to be done to address the wider culture of online abuse.
