Tamil Nadu Elections Exit Poll Results: As the second phase of the West Bengal elections conclude on Wednesday, attention now shift towards the exit polls.

Tamil Nadu recorded an impressive voter turnout in the Assembly elections held on April 23, with more than 4.87 crore electors casting their votes across all 234 constituencies. The overall polling percentage stood at an estimated 85.1 per cent, reflecting robust public participation in the democratic process.

Tamil Nadu’s Assembly elections on April 23 saw over 4.87 crore voters, achieving an 85.1% turnout, with women leading at 86.2%. Karur district recorded the highest turnout at 92.62%, while Kanniyakumari had the lowest at 75.61%.

Women Lead the Way

A notable highlight of this election was the higher participation of women voters compared to men. Over 2.52 crore women exercised their franchise, accounting for nearly 86.2 per cent of the total female electorate in the state. In comparison, 2.35 crore men voted, representing 83.96 per cent of the male electorate.

Additionally, 4,517 third-gender voters participated in the polls, marking 58.44 per cent turnout among registered third-gender electors. Tamil Nadu’s total electorate stands at 5.73 crore, which includes 2.93 crore women, 2.83 crore men, and 7,728 third-gender individuals. The rolls also featured approximately 14.59 lakh first-time voters.

District-Wise Performance

Karur district emerged as the top performer, recording the highest turnout in the state at 92.62 per cent. All four constituencies in the district crossed the 90 per cent mark, with Karur and Kulithalai leading at 93.38 per cent and 92.79 per cent respectively. Salem’s Edappadi constituency also posted a strong turnout of 92.09 per cent.

On the other hand, several districts fell short of the 80 per cent mark. These included Tirunelveli (77.94 per cent), Nilgiris (78.96 per cent), Sivaganga (76.66 per cent), Ramanathapuram (77.03 per cent), and Kanniyakumari, which recorded the lowest turnout in the state at 75.61 per cent.

Voting Trends in Key Cities
Among major urban centres, Chennai registered a polling percentage of 83.73 per cent. Within the city, Perambur constituency saw the highest turnout at 89.73 per cent, while Mylapore recorded the lowest at 74.89 per cent. Kolathur constituency reported 86.11 per cent polling, while Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni stood at 84.34 per cent.

Other cities also reported solid participation, with Madurai at 80.55 per cent, Coimbatore at 84.76 per cent, and Tiruchirappalli district at 85.43 per cent. Tiruchirappalli East constituency registered 81.77 per cent polling, while Karaikudi in Sivaganga district recorded a relatively lower turnout of 74.55 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has enforced a strict silence period ahead of Phase 2 of the West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled for April 29. During this period, all media platforms are prohibited from broadcasting or publishing election-related content, including opinions or discussions that could influence voters.

The Commission has also explicitly barred the dissemination of opinion polls during this time. Any violation of these rules can attract penalties, including imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both.

Exit Poll Update

Exit poll results for Tamil Nadu, along with West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry, will be released after 6:30 pm on April 29, once the voting process concludes and the mandated silence period ends.
