Trust today is no longer taken at face value. It is explored, experienced, and often quietly verified. Across categories, consumers are moving closer to what they buy, seeking not just information, but a sense of certainty that comes from seeing things for themselves.
Tanishq’s Diamond Expertise Centre (DXC) revolutionizes diamond buying in India, offering unparalleled transparency. With 225+ centres, customers can now verify diamonds using advanced tools like the Diamond Caratmeter and Lightscope. This initiative empowers buyers, ensuring trust and confidence in every purchase, making diamond evaluation accessible and immediate.
For a long time, diamonds remained outside this shift. The buying journey was guided by expertise, supported by certification, and built on reassurance. While credible, it also created distance. A diamond could be described in detail, but rarely in a way that felt immediate or truly tangible. That distance is now beginning to dissolve.
For the first time in India, a jewellery brand is bringing the science of diamond evaluation directly into a consumer facing, in store experience. With the introduction of the Diamond Expertise Centre (DXC), Tanishq is setting a category first benchmark that places transparency, understanding, and customer empowerment at the centre of the diamond journey.
What began as a single centre just months ago has already expanded to more than 225 stores across the country, and this is only the beginning. Soon, all the 500+ Tanishq stores will be DXC equipped.
Designed as an open, immersive zone within the store, the DXC transforms diamond evaluation into a hands-on discovery. Seamlessly integrated into the retail journey, it allows customers to explore, compare, and understand diamonds at their own pace.
Within this space, the science behind diamonds becomes visible and intuitive. Using advanced, lab-grade tools earlier confined to specialised gemmological laboratories, customers can verify whether a diamond is natural with the help of ‘Diamond Caratmeter’, examine its internal characteristics with the ‘Clarity Viewer’, and understand how it interacts with light including its brilliance, fire, and scintillation with ‘Lightscope’.
DXC also features the ‘Marking Viewer’ to identify the Unique Identification Number tracing a diamond’s authenticity. Importantly, the entire experience is guided by a trained gemmologist in each store and is completely free of cost. Customers can walk into any DXC enabled Tanishq store and evaluate any diamond they own, not just Tanishq purchases. This openness has already led to 170,000+ customers testing their diamonds at the DXC, including inherited pieces and certified diamonds purchased from other jewellers

Powering this experience is the scientific backbone of Tanishq’s Gemmological Lab ecosystem. The Tanishq Gemmological Lab (TGL) brings together over 25 years of expertise, and more than 100 million diamonds evaluated. Moving beyond standard 4Cs grading, TGL focuses on true brilliance parameters such as fire, scintillation, and sparkle. Using advanced technologies including spectrophotometry and Raman spectroscopy, every diamond is tested for natural origin, authenticity, and quality integrity across multiple stages. Each stone is evaluated in its loose form and reverified after setting, ensuring precision at every step. This rigorous system ensures that only a small fraction of diamonds meet Tanishq’s stringent standards, reinforcing a framework built on proof rather than perception.
As Mr. Arun Narayan, Chief Executive Officer, Jewellery Division, Titan Company Limited. explains, “Today’s diamond consumer is far more informed, curious, and involved in the buying journey than ever before. Initiatives like the Diamond Expertise Centre for the 1st time in India represent an important shift for the category because they make diamond education and transparency more accessible at a consumer level. By helping customers understand the science, and authenticity behind natural diamonds through direct experience, such platforms strengthen trust and create deeper long-term value for the industry.”
An industry perspective on this shift notes, “As consumer expectations evolve, the jewellery industry must move towards more transparent and experience-led formats of engagement. The Diamond Expertise Centre which is India’s first by Tanishq is a strong example of how technology, education, and accessibility can come together to enhance customer confidence. By making diamond verification and understanding more approachable, such initiatives contribute meaningfully towards strengthening trust in the category and elevating the overall buying experience.”
In many ways, this builds on Tanishq’s longstanding legacy of making trust visible. Just as the Karatmeter transformed gold purity into something measurable and transparent, the Diamond Expertise Centre extends the same philosophy to diamonds, shifting evaluation from explanation to experience.
Because when a diamond can be seen, explored, and fully understood, trust is no longer built over time. It becomes immediate, intuitive, and undeniable.
