While conventional conflicts rage in Europe and the Middle East, India is facing a different form of warfare. Delhi’s adversaries are launching constant attacks in the digital sphere, aimed at destabilising Indian society in order to contain the nation’s meteoric rise. In this edition of Point Blank, Executive Editor of Hindustan Times, Shishir Gupta decodes how Prime Minister Narendra Modi is himself leading the fight at the frontlines. But the response of the rest of the government is lacking, with Indian bureaucracy still being stuck in a colonial-era mindset, unable to respond with alacrity to rapid offensives from high-tech, militarised, and focused enemies.
