Anyone who has shopped in Delhi’s busy street markets knows the struggle. One hand carrying heavy shopping bags, another holding snacks or a phone, crowds pushing from every direction, endless walking, and someone in the family still saying, “Just one more shop.”

Delhi Startup In Lajpat Nagar
Delhi Startup In Lajpat Nagar

Launched in April, Delhi startup CarryMen offers shopping assistants for Rs 149/hour to help carry bags and manage market visits in Lajpat Nagar and Chandni Chowk, aiming to enhance shopper comfort and reduce physical strain.

From Lajpat Nagar to Sarojini Nagar and Chandni Chowk, shopping in Delhi is exciting but also physically exhausting.

Now, a Delhi-based startup called CarryMen is trying to make this experience easier and more comfortable by offering shopping assistants who literally carry bags and help shoppers throughout their market visit.

The idea is simple: “You shop. We carry.”

A Startup Inspired By Real Delhi Shopping Struggles

The founders of CarryMen say the idea came from their own experiences growing up in Delhi markets with family members.

Like many people, they realised that shopping often stops being enjoyable because of physical stress – carrying bags, standing in food lines, walking long distances and dealing with crowded streets.

According to the startup team, the goal was not to change shopping culture but to make it more comfortable.

Instead of shoppers struggling with ten bags while trying to eat momos or manage children, the company wanted people to simply enjoy the experience.

What The CarryMen Service Offers

The service works by assigning a trained assistant to accompany shoppers through the market. For Rs 149 per hour, customers can book assistants for two, three or four-hour slots.

The assistants help with:

  • Carrying shopping bags
  • Navigating crowded markets
  • Waiting in food queues
  • Helping customers reach parking areas or metro stations
  • Finding seating spots for tired shoppers

The startup says the service is designed to reduce stress and make shopping easier for families, women, elderly people and anyone feeling physically overwhelmed in crowded markets.

Helpful For Pregnant Women, Parents And Elderly Shoppers

The service has become especially useful for people who genuinely need support while shopping. Pregnant women, for example, often find it physically difficult to walk through crowded markets while carrying heavy bags.

Parents shopping with toddlers also face constant challenges – managing strollers, shopping bags and restless children all at once.

To help such customers, the startup even offers stroller rentals along with shopping assistance.

Meanwhile, elderly shoppers have become one of the biggest user groups for the service.
Many older customers reportedly use CarryMen while shopping for clothes, curtains, bedsheets and household items.

Portable Chairs, Umbrellas And Charging Support

One of the most surprising features offered by the startup is portable foldable chairs.
Yes, shoppers who get tired can actually sit and rest in the middle of a crowded market while the assistant sets up a small camping chair.

The service also includes:

  • Umbrellas for heat and rain
  • Power banks and charging support
  • Hydration assistance

The founders say these small comforts make a huge difference, especially during long shopping trips in Delhi’s hot weather and crowded streets.

Shopping Is Emotional Too, Not Just Physical

The startup says its service is not just about carrying bags but about improving the overall shopping experience. For many families, market shopping is deeply emotional and connected to memories.

A father quietly carrying shopping bags for hours. A brother acting as the “official coolie” of the family. A husband patiently waiting outside trial rooms without complaining.
These moments are often part of what makes shopping trips memorable.

CarryMen says it is not trying to replace loved ones, but simply reduce physical exhaustion so families can spend more relaxed time together.

Startup Already Seeing Strong Response

CarryMen officially launched in April and has already completed more than 50 bookings within its first month.

Interestingly, the startup has grown mostly through word-of-mouth and social media discussions rather than expensive advertising campaigns.

At present, the service operates mainly in Lajpat Nagar, but the founders say expansion plans for Chandni Chowk are already underway.

A New Kind Of Urban Convenience

The rise of services like CarryMen reflects changing urban lifestyles where convenience and comfort are becoming increasingly important.

In crowded cities like Delhi, where market shopping can become physically draining, small support systems can make a major difference.

For shoppers who love Delhi’s markets but hate the exhaustion that comes with them, CarryMen may offer a surprisingly simple solution – enjoying shopping again without the shoulder pain, stress and endless bag juggling.
