In the latest development, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Kunal Ghosh’s car was allegedly attacked with stones and eggs in West Bengal’s Hoogly district on Saturday while he was travelling to Serampore for a meeting involving party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Kunal Ghosh Alleges Attack On His Car
As per the TMC leader, the demonstrators are said to have hurled stones and eggs at Ghosh’s car after cornering it.
Ghosh alleged that the attack had broken the rear window glass of his car.
Commenting on the matter, the TMC MLA alleged that there were no police personnel at the place when his car had been cornered.
“This is jungle raj. They attacked my car with stones and eggs and blocked the path. There was no police personnel at the place,” Ghosh said.
The MLA also mentioned that he was coming back to Kolkata and would lodge a complaint about the matter at Lalbazar or Bhawani Bhawan.
TMC Alleges BJP Role, BJP MLA Calls It Public Anger
The incident triggered a political exchange between the TMC and BJP.
TMC leaders alleged that the attack was carried out by BJP supporters. TMC leader Asit Majumdar described it as a “pre-planned attack by the BJP” and said it should not be viewed as a normal public protest.
The BJP, however, rejected the allegation.
Uttarpara BJP MLA Dipanjan Chakraborty described the incident as a spontaneous reaction from members of the public.
The competing claims have added to the political tension surrounding the incident, with both sides offering different accounts of what happened.
Ghosh has said he would approach the authorities in Kolkata to lodge a formal complaint.
