Rocking Star Yash’s latest movie Toxic has managed to do well at the India box office on day two despite getting mixed reviews from the audience and critics.
After minting Rs 101.10 crore (net) on its first day in India on Wednesday, Toxic collected Rs 37.65 crore (net) on Thursday. The film’s total India net collection now stands at Rs 138.75 crore, while its India gross has reached Rs 165.85 crore so far.
Rocking Star Yash’s film ‘Toxic’ garnered ₹138.75 crore net in India and ₹190.10 crore gross globally over its first two days, following a record opening but experiencing a sharp collection drop on Day 2.
Overseas, Toxic earned Rs 8 crore gross on its second day, taking its total overseas collection to Rs 24.25 crore. With this, the film’s worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 190.10 crore in just two days. The movie will reach the Rs 200-crore mark today.
However, trade trackers have noted that the day 2 numbers have witnessed a sharp decline after getting a record-breaking opening. The film’s India net collection dropped from Rs 101.10 crore on Day 1 to Rs 37.65 crore on Day 2. The overall occupancy also fell from 56.1% across 24,579 shows on Wednesday to 26.6% across 22,629 shows on Thursday, according to the Sacnilk data.
Hindi remained the biggest contributor to the film’s Day 2 business, earning Rs 24.25 crore (net) with an occupancy of 26% across 16,251 shows.
Yash’s home territory, Karnataka, continued to show strong support for the film. The movie has earned Rs 11 crore gross on Thursday. On its opening day, the state had contributed Rs 30.50 crore gross.
The Kannada version collected Rs 8.50 crore net on Day 2 and recorded the highest occupancy among all languages at 51%. The Telugu version earned Rs 3 crore net, followed by Tamil at Rs 1.50 crore and Malayalam at Rs 40 lakh, the data said.
The film collected Rs 4.25 crore gross in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Day 2, compared to Rs 18.50 crore on Day 1. Tamil Nadu contributed Rs 1.75 crore, while Kerala added Rs 75 lakh. The rest of India remained the biggest contributor to the film’s overall domestic gross, with collections of Rs 27.35 crore on Day 2, following Rs 62.75 crore on its opening day.
Trade trackers say that the film’s performance over the first weekend will be crucial after the steep drop in collections on its second day.
