US president Donald Trump has announced that he has banned CNN, MSNOW and Politico from White House to stop them covering news. According to him, he took the decision after their unfavourable coverage. He also said that he will be banning more media outlets in near future.
President Donald Trump banned CNN, MSNOW, and Politico from the White House, citing unfavourable coverage and ‘FAKE NEWS!’, a move following previous restrictions on Associate Press journalists which led to an ongoing lawsuit.
Trump announced the ban on social media with immediate effect, “I am banning” CNN, MSNOW and Politico “from the White House as a result of their constant reporting’ FAKE NEWS!”

Latest White House Media Dispute
This move has come after the administration’s latest test of constitutional First Amendment protections, which cover freedom of the press.
This ban has come to other media houses after Trump took the decision of banning Associate Press journalists in February 2025. He banned Associate Press journalist from covering Oval office, Air Force One and other events too small for a full press corpse.
AP Takes Legal Action
Trump’s decision against the AP came after the news outlet did not follow his lead in changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico.
The AP filed a lawsuit challenging the administration’s action, and the case is ongoing.
Trump’s History With Media Outlets
Trump has long criticised news coverage that he considers unfavourable to him. He also has a history of filing lawsuits against news organisations and criticising individual reporters in person or through social media.
Since returning to office, Trump has pursued legal action against The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the BBC and other news outlets.
