The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) will resume its march to Jantar Mantar on Sunday, 11 October, with party leaders vowing to continue the agitation until Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resigns or is removed from office. The announcement came a day after Delhi Police detained the party’s founder and several protesters.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) will resume its protest at Jantar Mantar on October 11, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged vote chori, despite the detention of founder Abhijeet Dipke and others by Delhi Police. Student groups plan nationwide expansion of demonstrations.
CJP Leaders Taken Away After Landing In Delhi
CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde said on Saturday that founder Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were taken away by Delhi Police shortly after their flight landed at the Delhi airport around 11 am. The party said the three leaders had been moved to an undisclosed location and raised concerns about their safety.
Dipke and hundreds of others remained in detention following a police crackdown after protesters planned to gather at Jantar Mantar. CJP representatives alleged that protesters had faced “brutal torture of innocent protesters” and expressed concern over what they described as the inhumane treatment of their founder.
Protest To Continue Over Vote Chori Allegations
The CJP and several student organisations have vowed to continue demonstrations over allegations of “vote chori” and “collusion” between the Chief Election Commissioner and the ruling BJP. The protesters are demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation or removal from office.
Shinde, who was designated by Dipke to lead the agitation in his absence, said the protest would continue despite the detentions.
The Modi Govt fears that if we unite again, their throne will be at stake. But we’re not backing down! We will march to Jantar Mantar again tomorrow and stay there until all our demands are met.@AjinkyaCJP https://t.co/Z9wJB29bFU

“Every day, there will be marches to Jantar Mantar from now on, until Gyanesh Kumar is sacked as CEC,” he said.
Student Groups Plan Protests Across India
Student organisations have also announced plans to expand the agitation beyond Delhi. Srijan Bhattacharyya, general secretary of the Student Federation of India (SFI), called for the “broadest possible unity against this dictatorial regime”, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Bhattacharyya said student protests would spread to different parts of the country from Sunday. He said demonstrations would remain peaceful, adding that any area where police barricades blocked protesters would become a ‘Jantar Mantar’.
Dipke Seeks To Attend Grandmother’s Last Rites
The CJP also expressed concern over Dipke’s inability to attend the last rites of his grandmother, who died in his hometown in Maharashtra earlier on Saturday. Party representatives said he was not being allowed to travel for the funeral and questioned the circumstances of his detention.
With the CJP planning to resume its march on Sunday, the agitation is set to continue despite the mass detentions and police restrictions in the national capital.
