Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the United States and Iran agreed on peace. US President Donald Trump later confirmed it. The arrangement called for an immediate, permanent halt to military action. It covered all fronts, including Lebanon. The parties planned to formally sign the agreement in Switzerland on June 19.

Trump said the Strait of Hormuz would remain “permanently toll-free.” Trump also warned strikes could resume later. That would happen if Iran did not finalise a broader nuclear agreement with Washington. The announcement came after intense talks between the two sides.

Trump posted on Truth Social after Sharif shared the news on X. Trump said the negotiations had ended successfully. “The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!” Trump wrote. The posts placed the agreement into the public domain before formal signing.

US Iran Peace Deal Advances

Trump said the United States ordered commercial access restored through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also directed the removal of the US naval blockade. “Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” Trump wrote. The strait is vital for global oil and gas shipments.

The following points outlined the stated steps and dates. They came from statements by Trump and Iranian officials. They also included the planned signing venue and date.

US-Iran peace deal terms outlined by Iran

Iran’s National Security Council said the maritime blockade would be lifted at once. It described the text as a memorandum of understanding with the United States. The council said all war and military operations would stop immediately and permanently from tonight. It added that the MoU text had been completed.

Iran said formal signing remained scheduled for June 19. Iran also said talks on a final comprehensive agreement would begin later. That would start after the other side met its commitments. Separately, Tasnim News Agency cited an informed source. The report said the strait could reopen on Friday after signing.

US-Iran peace deal followed regional mediation

Sharif said several regional mediators helped move the talks forward. Sharif said Washington and Tehran chose diplomacy over more confrontation. Sharif praised Qatar for leading and supporting the effort. Sharif also cited key roles by Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Sharif said the diplomacy helped narrow differences.

Trump defended the pact in an interview with The New York Times on Sunday. Trump said fresh attacks on Tehran remained possible if a final nuclear deal failed. Trump also referred to a wider arrangement. In that setting, the United States would act as the “guardian of the Middle East”.

Mediators were expected to guide more meetings before June 19. Those discussions were set to cover technical steps and monitoring systems. Operational arrangements were also on the agenda. The Switzerland signing was described as an important diplomatic step. For now, the agreement paused hostilities and shifted attention to negotiations.
