Uttar Pradesh has created a new record in electricity supply under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The state has surpassed Maharashtra in meeting peak electricity demand, emerging as the top-performing state in the country in terms of power supply during high-demand periods.
According to official figures, Uttar Pradesh successfully met a peak demand of 31,824 MW on May 24, while Maharashtra supplied 29,463 MW during the same period. This marks the highest electricity supply ever recorded in Uttar Pradesh and also the highest by any state in the country so far.

The previous highest peak demand in Uttar Pradesh was recorded at 31,486 MW on June 11, 2025. Despite severe heat conditions, the Yogi government managed to achieve this milestone by ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply across the state.
Officials said the record peak demand of 31,824 MW was successfully met at 10:29 pm on May 24. The government has intensified efforts to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply to every household, village and city across the state.
Power supply remained consistently high throughout the night and following day. The state supplied 29,933 MW at 1 am and 30,569 MW at 3 am on the night of May 24-25. Similarly, 29,573 MW power was supplied at 5 am and 27,392 MW at 10 am on May 25. At 2 pm, the state successfully met a demand of 29,616 MW.
UPPCL Director Distribution Gyanendra Dhar Dwivedi said that 24-hour electricity supply was maintained in urban areas, tehsils, nagar panchayats, metropolitan cities, divisional headquarters and industrial areas on Sunday. He added that power cuts in Bundelkhand were limited to only 22 minutes.
He further stated that rural areas received electricity for an average of 22 to 22.5 hours, significantly higher than the scheduled 18-hour rural roster. This has provided major relief to farmers, traders, industries and the general public during the scorching summer season.
Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) and Chairman of UP Power Corporation, Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal, said that all officials and employees have been deployed on a war footing to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in compliance with the Chief Minister’s directives.
Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma said Uttar Pradesh has now become the state providing the highest electricity availability in the country. He acknowledged that local disruptions may occur at some places due to technical, natural or human-related reasons, but assured that electricity department personnel are working round the clock to resolve issues promptly. The minister also appealed to the people of the state to support and encourage electricity workers, who are working continuously in extreme heat and challenging conditions to provide better power services to consumers.
