TVK MLA Sukumar has warned actor Vijay Sethupathi over his recent remarks, which have been interpreted by some as a dig at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay Joseph, during Bigg Boss Tamil 10, Tamil news website Kumudam reported.
The Sulur MLA said that protests, including road blockades, would be staged wherever Vijay Sethupathi goes if he fails to issue an apology. Consequently, Vijay Sethupathi’s remarks, which had already sparked debate on social media, have now created a political stir.
Following allegations that his Bigg Boss Tamil 10 remarks criticized Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Joseph, actor Vijay Sethupathi faces protest threats from MLA Sukumar; Vijay Television clarified the comments were within the show’s context.
What Did Vijay Sethupathi Say?
“Without knowing who the leader is, without understanding what leadership really means, making promises without thinking, turning one’s back when a problem arises and then blaming the opposition are not qualities expected of a leader,” Vijay Sethupathi said during his weekend episode.
His comments may have been made in the context of the Bigg Boss house, but they could remind viewers of the political controversy that unfolded in the Tamil Nadu Assembly just days earlier.
On September 7, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay launched a sharp attack on the opposition DMK during the Assembly session. He accused previous DMK governments of corruption and referred to the Sarkaria Commission report from the 1970s, as well as Enforcement Directorate documents, while making his allegations.
Vijay also named DMK president and former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin while referring to corruption allegations.
The CM’s remarks, however, were not the only part of the Assembly proceedings that triggered controversy.

While referring to the DMK’s repeated references to the party’s struggles during the Emergency and the detention of its leaders under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA), Vijay made a hand gesture by placing his palm near his jaw and moving it upwards.
The gesture drew strong criticism from the DMK.
The opposition party subsequently accused the ruling side of avoiding the issues it had raised in the Assembly, including law and order and the drug menace, and instead targeting the DMK with allegations.
However, Vijay Television has issued a clarification, asking viewers not to interpret the remarks beyond the context of the Bigg Boss show and not to treat any reference or expression as a representation, endorsement of or comment upon any person.
“Bigg Boss Tamil Season 10 is an entertainment programme presented within the framework of its established format, themes and game environment. The situations, conversations, expressions and interactions featured in the programme form part of its evolving narrative and are to be understood in the context in which they occur within the show,” the statement read.
It further added, “No reference or expression in the programme should be construed as representing, endorsing or commenting upon any person, organisation, institution, ideology or circumstance outside the context of the programme. Any interpretation or association beyond the programme and its intended entertainment context is neither intended nor endorsed.”
