A youth has been stranded in the Ashwin River in Naswadi following an intense rains across the Naswadi taluka of Chhotaudepur district on Friday morning, according to Gujarat-based TV channel Sandesh.
Naswadi town in the Chhota Udaipur district of Gujarat witnessed 54 mm rains in two hours. The intense downpour in upstream hilly areas flooded market streets, affecting the normal life.
Heavy rains in Gujarat’s Chhotaudepur district stranded a youth in Naswadi’s Ashwin River, causing floods and rising water levels in the Heran River, while the IMD issued a red alert for heavy rainfall across the state.
In the video shared by IANS, a youth is stranded even as water levels in the Ashwin River, considered the lifeline of Naswadi, is surrounding the Eidgah Dargah.
Local residents are demanding the immediate deployment of the Fire Brigade and Disaster Management teams to execute a safe rescue of the youth.
The sheer force of the floodwaters has disrupted daily life in the town. According to the local media report, a large water tanker parked near the riverbed was carried away.

The widespread rainfall across the region’s hilly terrain has also filled the Heran River, the second-largest river in Chhotaudepur district. The rising waters pose an escalating threat to nearby low-lying rural areas.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across widespread parts of Gujarat over the next forty-eight hours. The weather agency has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea till August 1.
The IMD has issued a red alert for very heavy rainfall for Central and South Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Anand, Surat, Navsari, and Valsad.
