Bad weather in Kerala delayed the return of a Jharkhand worker’s body on Wednesday. The 25-year-old, Anmol Dodrai from Khunti district, died in the Wayanad landslide a day earlier. Officials said the aircraft carrying the body could not depart due to heavy rain. Family members waited at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi for updates.

Family members and Jharkhand officials waited at Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi. The body is expected to arrive on Thursday morning, while officials remain in touch with Wayanad administration on support and compensation.

Khunti Labour Superintendent Walter Kujur spoke to reporters at 9.20 pm at the Ranchi airport. Kujur said Kerala officials informed them about the disruption. “We have been told that the body will reach Ranchi on Thursday morning,\” the official said. Kujur remained at the airport with Dodrai’s relatives.

Wayanad landslide: Flight delay and Ranchi airport waiting

Officials said the body could not be flown to Ranchi because the plane could not take off. The reason given was heavy rains in Kerala. Kujur said the information came through official communication from Kerala authorities. The delay meant the family had to continue waiting at Birsa Munda Airport until a new arrival time was confirmed.

Wayanad landslide: Victim details and Torpa block background

Ranchi’s state migration control room team leader Shikha Lakra said Dodrai lived in Jariya panchayat. The village falls in Patpur under the Torpa block. Lakra said Dodrai was one of three people killed. The deaths happened at a tunnel road construction site in Kerala’s hill district of Wayanad.

Wayanad landslide: Administration contact and compensation steps

Officials in Jharkhand said they stayed in touch with Kerala authorities after the incident. \”We have established contact with the Wayanad district administration and also with the relatives of the deceased youth. We are also trying to get adequate compensation through the Wayanad authorities for the deceaseds family,\” Lakra said.

Wayanad landslide: Family hardship and arrangements in Khunti

Kujur said local officials planned transport after the body reached Ranchi. The arrangements included moving the body to Dodrai’s ancestral village in Khunti. Kujur said the family was poor and needed support for the final journey. Officials said these steps were prepared while the family awaited the delayed flight.

Wayanad landslide: Neighbour recounts work history and family role

Neighbour and relative Walter Hembrom said Dodrai supported the household income. Hembrom said Dodrai was the eldest child of the parents. The family includes two sisters and a younger brother in school. Hembrom said one sister was unmarried. \”I helped Dodrai complete graduation BA last year, after which he got a job as a worker in the tunnel project at Wayanad in February this year,\” Hembrom said.

Officials said the flight delay was linked to heavy rain conditions in Kerala. The family stayed in Ranchi while awaiting the body’s arrival. Jharkhand teams said they remained in contact with Wayanad officials and the relatives. Plans were also kept ready to take the body from Ranchi to the ancestral village once it arrived.
