Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Abhijeet Dipke criticised the authorities shortly before he was detained by Delhi Police at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday, October 10. In a video shared by the party, Dipke is heard saying, “Even Indira Gandhi didn’t do this,” as he reacted to the action against him and fellow party leaders.

On Saturday, October 10, Delhi Police detained CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka at Indira Gandhi International Airport, preventing their planned protest at Jantar Mantar demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged voter roll irregularities.
Dipke, along with CJP spokesperson Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, was reportedly detained at the airport inside the flight, after arriving from Mumbai. The three leaders were expected to travel to Jantar Mantar for the party’s planned protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
In the video, Dipke is also heard saying, “Arrest hone liye hi aaya hu,” which translates to “I have come here to get arrested.”
The reported detentions came amid tight security across Delhi, where the police had denied permission for the CJP’s proposed demonstration.
Abhijeet Dipke Reacts Before Being Detained
After the alleged detention of Dipke, the CJP posted the video online where he draws a comparison between the action that has been taken against the party leaders with the actions that were taken during the time of ex-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The comment had been made when the party accused the government of trying to stop the party leaders from reaching the demonstration venue. But the exact legal basis for these allegations of detentions at the airports was not available from the information provided.
In the statement, the CJP strongly condemned the action, terming it as an attempt to deliberately stop its leaders from joining in the demonstration. The party claimed that the detentions of their leaders denied them of their freedom of movement and demanded their immediate and unconditional release.
Why Was The CJP Planning A Protest At Jantar Mantar?
CJP had called for a protest march to be held at Jantar Mantar in order to force Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.
The party has accused irregularities in the process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls, and has also expressed reservations about changes in Form 6, which is a form used by eligible citizens for being registered in the voters list.
It must be noted that these allegations cannot be treated as facts based on the information available.
Delhi police did not permit this protest citing security reasons and other technicalities.
Delhi Under Tight Security Ahead Of CJP Protest
The reported detention of the three CJP leaders came as Delhi Police stepped up security across the national capital. Police personnel were deployed at important locations, while restrictions affecting transport services were introduced as part of the arrangements.
The security measures were intended to prevent a law-and-order problem during the planned demonstration. However, the CJP criticised the action against its leaders and continued to demand their release.
