The Cockroach Janta Party has begun its first street-level drive, called #LifeOfACockroach, asking people to flag daily civic problems. The satirical political group wants residents to spotlight issues like potholes, broken lights and unattended waste, and promises to raise these complaints widely on social media to increase pressure on officials and agencies.

The Cockroach Janta Party, founded by Abhijeet Dipke, launched its street-level campaign asking citizens to report civic issues like potholes and waste via social media to pressure officials, continuing the drive despite alleged website and account suspensions.

The campaign officially started on May 29 and quickly drew attention online, especially on X. Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke posted, “Launching our first ground campaign – #LifeOfACockroach.” Supporters and curious users have since discussed the unusual name, the party’s approach, and what it could mean for civic accountability.

Under #LifeOfACockroach, citizens are urged to capture photos or videos of everyday neglect. These include potholes deep enough to endanger two-wheelers, dark stretches caused by damaged streetlights, piles of garbage, and government offices where staff ignore basic public service. People are asked to send this material to the party or tag its accounts.

The Cockroach Janta Party has said its members will share these posts further and seek to build public pressure on the responsible bodies. On its official X account, the party wrote, “Launching our first ground campaign #LifeOfACockroach. Cockroaches, it’s time to get to work. See a pothole that could swallow a scooter? A broken streetlight? Garbage piling up? A government office that has forgotten what ‘public service’ means? Record it. Shoot it. Document it. Then send us a collaboration request or tag us. We’ll amplify it, create pressure, and make sure the authorities know that the cockroaches are watching.”

While the #LifeOfACockroach drive gathers visibility, Abhijeet Dipke has also spoken about problems around the Cockroach Janta Party’s online presence. Dipke has claimed that the party’s website, which was drawing lakhs of sign-ups, was taken down by the government. Dipke has further alleged that unknown actors hacked the party’s Instagram and X accounts, which then faced suspension.

According to Dipke’s current social media updates, the Cockroach Janta Party is now using an alternative X handle. The new handle is described as the group’s functioning account and operates under the name “Cockroach is Back.” Through this account, the party continues to promote #LifeOfACockroach and share posts documenting civic issues from different locations.

There has also been a separate legal debate involving the word “cockroach.” During a hearing linked to a public interest litigation, a lawyer argued that a twisted and hostile story was being used to target the judiciary, even after the Chief Justice of India clarified a disputed “cockroach” comment. Responding in court, Justice Surya Kant said, “Don’t take it so sentimentally.”

The Cockroach Janta Party’s #LifeOfACockroach campaign now runs alongside these digital and legal discussions. Supporters keep posting examples of civic neglect, while questions linger about the party’s earlier website, its suspended accounts, and the wider arguments that followed the controversial remark featuring the same term.
