In a significant development, the Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Tuesday arrested six people, including former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, former IAS officer and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) CEO Udit Prakash Rai, former contractual consultant Ankit Srivastava, and three private individuals.
On Tuesday, the Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch arrested six individuals, including former minister Satyendar Jain and ex-DJB CEO Udit Prakash Rai, in connection with FIR No. 10/2024 regarding alleged irregularities in Delhi Jal Board Sewage Treatment Plant tenders.
The arrests were made in connection with FIR No. 10/2024, registered on May 11, 2024, under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and relevant sections of the IPC.
Case centres on alleged irregularities in DJB tenders
The investigation concerns alleged irregularities in the tendering process for the expansion and upgradation of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Delhi Jal Board. The ACB has alleged that the tender process involved manipulation of technical conditions and a possible criminal conspiracy.
According to the investigating agency, the technical requirements in the tender were allegedly framed in a manner that favoured a particular technology and M/s Euroteck Environment Pvt. Ltd., while reducing the opportunity for other companies to compete.
Who Is Satyendar Jain?
Satyendar Kumar Jain was born on October 3, 1964, in Kirthal, Uttar Pradesh. He is a trained architect who later entered politics and became one of the founding members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Jain was elected from Delhi’s Shakur Basti Assembly constituency and went on to hold several important portfolios in the Delhi government.
