Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has taken over the Education Ministry after Former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced his resignation on Saturday which later got accepted by President Droupadi Murmu. President has accepted the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan with immediate effect which forced BJP to choose another leader for the post.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi took charge of the Education Ministry after President Droupadi Murmu accepted the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday.
The exit of Dharmendra Pradhan came after a long protest against him and the NEET paper leak for almost a month. Now the challenge for the government will be restore the faith in the examination and education system of India and for that the government has decided to give Pralhad Joshi the responsibilities.
Who Is Pralhad Joshi?
Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi is a senior leader of BJP and has won Lok Sabha seat for five time from Dharwad constituency of Karnataka. He was born in November 1962 in a North Karnataka Brahmin family, he joined RSS at the very young age before joining BJP.
Pralhad Joshi first came in the parliament winning in 2004 from the Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency. Since then he has been part of many important positions in the central government, and currently he is Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and the Minister of New and Renewable Energy. Earlier he had the Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs portfolios and joined to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet in 2024.
Why Was He Given the Education Ministry?
After a few hours of Dharmendra Pradhan announcing his resignation, The Rashtrapati Bhavan announced that the president has accepted the resignation of former union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan under Article 75(2) of the Constitution and the advice from PM Narendra Modi. The president also announced that now Pralhad Joshi will take over the Education ministry.
While resigning from his post, Dharmendra Pradhan wrote he has to take the step to stop “anti-national elements” from doing the worsen of the condition.
Protests Led to Major Political Change
Interestingly, the protest which took almost a month and a violent protest on Monday forced the government to think about the resignation. CJP, the party which led the protest had to go three round of talks with government to make them accept their condition of Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
Later Union minsters JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh met with CJP delegation of 2 members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka for the meeting and it lately turned into government accepting all the conditions and Pradhan’s resignation.
