A 41-year-old woman in the UK got the biggest surprise of her life when a visit to the doctor for a stomach lump revealed that she was pregnant. Sammy Evans had no idea she was expecting a baby and was shocked to learn that she was already in labour. Just five hours after reaching the hospital, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
UK’s Sammy Evans, 41, unaware she was pregnant, discovered she was in labor after visiting a doctor for a stomach lump and gave birth to an 8-pound baby boy named Noah just five hours after arriving at the hospital.
According to Wales Online, Evans had noticed a lump near her ribs and thought it was caused by muscle strain after intense exercise. She never suspected pregnancy because she had not experienced the usual signs. She also believed her periods had stopped because she was entering perimenopause.
Woman Had No Idea She Was Pregnant
Evans recently shared her unusual experience on the television show This Morning, where she spoke to presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.
She said she had been feeling uncomfortable for some time and decided to get medical help. In August, she also had a smear test, which came back normal. At that time, she would have been around eight months pregnant but did not know it.
After the test results showed no problem, Evans decided to visit a doctor to find out what was causing her discomfort.
Doctors Find A Faint Line On Pregnancy Test
During her appointment, a doctor carried out a pregnancy test to rule out the possibility. The test initially appeared negative, but another doctor noticed a very faint line on the test strip.
She was then asked to take another test at home. The following day, doctors performed an ultrasound scan to check what was happening.
The scan revealed a baby, with the doctor spotting a leg, an arm and a tiny back on the screen. Evans and the medical staff were left shocked by the discovery.
Woman Discovers She Is Already In Labour
After learning the news, Evans sent a message to her partner, Triston. She initially thought she was only in the early stages of pregnancy. However, medical staff soon told the couple that she was already in labour.
Just five hours after being admitted to the hospital, Evans gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Noah. The newborn weighed 8 pounds.
Family Welcomes Baby Noah
Evans said she was still in severe pain after giving birth and needed stitches. Because of the pain, she could not immediately process the fact that she had just become a mother.
“When I gave birth to him, I was still very much in pain; I had stitches and things like that. I was like, ‘Oh gosh, I’ve had a baby,’ but I’m still in horrendous pain, so I didn’t get a chance immediately to be like, ‘Oh, I’ve had a baby’,” she said.
Despite the unexpected news and sudden delivery, Evans and her family welcomed Noah with love.
