Hyderabad police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly posing as a qualified doctor and treating patients at the Hikma Sehath Care Centre in Golconda without the eligible qualification or a valid license.
Hyderabad police arrested 23-year-old Mohd Adnan for practicing medicine without a license at Golconda’s Hikma Sehath Care Centre after a September 22 raid. He and his family allegedly posed as doctors, treating various ailments and dispensing unlabelled medicines, while his mother and brother remain absconding.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Mohd Adnan and he had completed Intermediate with CEC subjects between 2018 and 2020. He was arrested after Commissioner’s Task Force and Golconda Police had a raid at the centre in Mohalla Gunj on 22 September.
Adnan Allegedly Treated Patients Without Medical Qualification
Police have said Adnan started working at the centre in 2023 as support staff after coming in contact with Dr Munarwa Begum, a BUMS-qualified Unani practitioner. The police said that an arrangement was made which doctor was paid Rs 13,000 per month and visited the centre occasionally.
According to police, Adnan and his family members regularly treated patients themselves. They reportedly dealt with complaints including sexual-health problems, breathing difficulties, chest pain, repeated vomiting, severe body pain, kidney or flank pain and urinary problems.
Family Allegedly Posed As Ancestral Hakeems
Adnan’s mother, Saba Khan alias Mohammadi Begum, and brother, Mohd Faizan, have also been named as accused. Police said the trio allegedly presented themselves as ancestral Hakeems and issued prescriptions while providing medicines without proper labels.
“They were impersonating themselves as qualified doctors and cheating innocent people by putting their lives in danger to gain easy money,” the Golconda Police added.
The centre was allegedly promoted through Facebook and Instagram, while promotional content was also published through SACH News, according to police.
Unlabelled Medicines Seized During Raid
During the raid, police seized a large quantity of powders and bottles allegedly containing unlabelled medicines. Officials also recovered prescription books and five books linked to an alleged ‘Dr Adnan Official’ Facebook page. Reports said some seized products had only codes or names written with marker pens.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including cheating and acts endangering human life or personal safety. Adnan’s mother and brother remain absconding, while further investigation is underway.
