The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has issued fresh warning to sit on a protest again if the Centre fails to honor the commitments made during negotiations over the recently concluded student protest.
Following July 25 talks, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) warns of fresh protests if the Centre fails to withdraw FIRs against student demonstrators and halt new cases; MP Kapil Sibal established a ₹1 crore legal aid fund for peaceful protesters.
Holding a press conference on Monday, CJP leaders said that the government had agreed to withdraw all FIRs against the protesters and organisers and promised that no fresh cases would be registered in the future. They added that they are still waiting for a written copy of agreement and warned that any delay can trigger another round of protest.
Senior advocate and Independent Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal also joined the briefing, saying he had been providing legal guidance to the organisation throughout the movement.

CJP Says Legal Support Was Planned From the Beginning
Addressing the media alongside Kapil Sibal, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the organisation had remained in regular contact with the senior lawyer during the protest to ensure legal assistance for students across the country.
According to Das, the CJP decided to seek legal backing because it feared that protesters could face legal action even after the movement ended.
He said the organisation believed there was a possibility that once public attention shifted away from the agitation, authorities might begin targeting individuals by filing cases against them.

Das added that the CJP had observed a similar pattern during previous large-scale protests, where participants were allegedly implicated after demonstrations ended.
He said legal teams and medical volunteers had been supporting students from the first day of the protest, ensuring that participants received legal advice and assistance wherever required.
CJP Details July 25 Meeting With Centre
CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the issue of FIRs was discussed during the third round of talks with Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh on July 25.
According to Ranka, both sides agreed that all FIRs registered against protesters and organisers in connection with the Jantar Mantar protest, the July 20 demonstrations and other protests across the country would be withdrawn.
He also claimed that the government assured the organisation that no fresh FIRs would be filed against protesters or organisers in the future.
Ranka said the CJP had already submitted its draft of the agreement to the ministers and was informed that the government’s version of the document would be shared by Tuesday. He added that once lawyers from both sides reviewed the draft, the agreement would be finalised.
Kapil Sibal Announces ₹1 Crore Legal Aid Fund for Peaceful Protesters
Senior advocate and Independent Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal said a nationwide legal support network would be created to assist peaceful protesters who may face legal action after participating in demonstrations.
Speaking at the press conference, Sibal said the idea is to ensure that students and protesters are not left without legal representation if they are targeted through criminal cases.
He said the CJP will prepare a database identifying places where peaceful protests took place and whether any FIRs have been filed against participants. The organisation also plans to launch a dedicated website where lawyers willing to support the cause can register by providing details such as their location and the kind of legal assistance they can offer.
To strengthen the initiative, Sibal announced that he would personally contribute ₹1 crore towards creating a legal aid fund. He also appealed to others to donate so that legal assistance can be provided to peaceful protesters across India.
