The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is set to resume its protest in Delhi on Sunday, October 11, and call for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar for the alleged violations in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) resumes its protest in Delhi on Sunday, October 11, demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged electoral roll violations. Leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka were arrested Saturday, but the CJP vows to continue agitation amid heavy police security and mass detentions.
As per sources, the CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka, who have been under arrest since Saturday morning, are likely to appear before an executive magistrate in Delhi Cantonment. All the three were arrested by Delhi Police following the arrival of an Air India plane, carrying them to Delhi airport.
However, even after the arrest of their leaders, the CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde said the party would continue its agitation and try to march toward Jantar Mantar on Sunday. The party claims that its agitation will go on until Kumar resigns.
This came after a day when security was made tight in Delhi, as the police had arrested thousands of people to stop protesters from gathering at the protest spot.
CJP Leaders Detained After Flight Landed In Delhi
Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained on Saturday after arriving in Delhi by air. The three leaders are associated with the CJP, a satirical political movement that began as an online campaign and later organised demonstrations against the Election Commission.
Their detention came ahead of the planned protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
According to sources, the three were placed under preventive arrest and were expected to be taken before an executive magistrate on Sunday. Further details about the legal grounds for their detention and any subsequent orders were not immediately available.
With the three leaders absent, Ajinkya Shinde announced that the CJP would press ahead with its second day of demonstrations. The group has called on supporters to gather in Delhi and continue demanding Kumar’s resignation.
Delhi Witnesses Heavy Security And Mass Detentions
Saturday’s protest plans led to a major security operation across Delhi. Police set up barricades and checkpoints in several areas to prevent demonstrators from reaching Jantar Mantar, where permission for the planned gathering had been denied.
More than 3,000 protesters, including political leaders, were detained during the day and released later that night, according to the information provided in reports. With access to the main protest site restricted, small groups gathered at different locations across the capital.
The police action affected political workers, students, lawyers and activists. The restrictions and detentions also triggered criticism from opposition leaders and concerns about the handling of peaceful demonstrations.
Dhruv Rathee Released After Detention
Stand-up comic and online commentator Dhruv Rathee was among those released late on Saturday night after being detained during the protest-related action.
Rathee is known for his political commentary and criticism of the NDA government. His detention drew attention on social media as police continued efforts to prevent gatherings in central Delhi.
The CJP’s second day of protest is expected to test the security arrangements put in place by the authorities. The key developments to watch include the magistrate’s proceedings involving Dipke, Das and Ranka, the status of other detainees and whether protesters will be allowed to assemble near Jantar Mantar.
