A dispute over money for an iPhone instalment ended in tragedy in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where a 19-year-old boy and his parents died after a desperate rescue attempt at a hill.
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, a 19-year-old boy and his parents died Friday morning after falling from Khavda Hill during a dispute over iPhone installment payments, as the father tried to save his son and the mother also fell.
The incident took place at Khavda Hill in the Tisgaon area, under the Waluj MIDC police jurisdiction, on Friday morning. According to police reports, the teenager had reportedly bought an iPhone and was asking his family for money to pay its EMI.
Nearly Three Hours Of Attempts To Save Him
For close to three hours, the boy stayed close to the edge of the hill while his parents, fellow villagers, the police and the firefighters tried to persuade him to return.
Firefighters also made efforts to place a safety net underneath the hill just in case the boy would fall. The mother kept on pleading with the boy to move from the edge.
Sadly enough, at about 1 pm, the father started moving closer to his son trying to remove him from the edge.

Father Falls While Trying To Save Son
The teenager suddenly fell from the steep hill. His father, who was attempting to save him, also lost his balance and fell.
The mother then witnessed both her husband and son falling from the hill. In the moments that followed, she too fell from the hill, resulting in the deaths of all three family members.
Police later recovered the bodies and sent them for further formalities.
iPhone EMI At Centre Of The Dispute
According to police information cited in media reports, the teenager had purchased an iPhone and was seeking money from his parents to pay the instalments.
The incident has brought attention to how financial pressure and family disputes can sometimes escalate rapidly. What began as an argument over an expensive mobile phone ended with the loss of an entire family.
Police are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
