A domestic worker has been arrested after around 5 lakh Rs worth item were stolen from Ameesha Patel’s Churchgate home in Mumbai. Mumbai Police have arrested a 40-year-old Seema Ghate in connection with the case and she was later sent to police custody until 15 September after produced to court.

Mumbai police arrested Seema Ghate, a domestic worker, in Virar for allegedly stealing ₹5 lakh worth of jewellery, including diamond-studded gold bangles, from Ameesha Patel’s Churchgate home in January 2026; she is held in custody until September 15.
Jewellery Reportedly Went Missing In January
According the police, the missing items were gold bangles with diamonds and it was stolen from the house in January 2026. Ameesha Patel’s mother Asha Patel had employed Ghate as domestic worker for around one-and-a-half years. When Asha Patel found bangles were missing from the place, she reportedly suspected Ghate for the theft.
She allegedly asked the domestic worker multiple times over the next five to six months to admit the robbery and return the bangle. When she didn’t return the bangles then Asha Patel decided to approach the police.
Police Traced Suspect To Virar
Initially Marine Drive police registered the case against an unidentified woman and then they started looking for the suspect. Later police traced her to Virar and took her into custody. She was then produced before court and granted police custody till 15 September.
Now the police is looking for missing bangles and also check if Ghate had any background in criminal cases or not.
Investigation Into Theft Still Underway
The bangle has not been recovered so far. The police investigation will now focus on finding the jewellery and establishing what happened inside the house.
Ghate is currently an accused in the case, and the allegations against her are yet to be established in court.
