A 27-year-old postgraduate medical student was found dead at a hotel here on Friday, while police launched a search for the male friend who had reportedly been with her.

A decomposed body of a 27-year-old postgraduate medical student was found in a Hyderabad hotel, prompting police to register a murder case and launch a search for a male friend last seen with her before he checked out on October 1.
Father Alleges Murder
The woman’s body was discovered on the bed in a decomposed state. Her father subsequently filed a complaint with the police, alleging that she had been murdered.
Based on the complaint, police registered a murder case at Miyapur Police Station, an official said.
Mobile Phone Helped Police Trace Her
The woman belonged to Sangareddy district and was pursuing a postgraduate medical course at a college in Hanamkonda, according to police.
Her family could not reach her and later travelled to Hanamkonda before approaching the police. Investigators then traced her mobile phone location to a hotel in Hyderabad.
“However, the woman was found dead in the hotel room, with the body in a decomposed state. No external injury marks were visible on the body,” the official said, citing the preliminary investigation.
Male Friend Left Hotel On October 1
During the investigation, police found that the woman had joined her male friend at the hotel on September 30 after he called her there to return her gold chain, the official said.
The male friend checked out of the hotel room on October 1 and has been absconding since then, police said, adding that a search is underway to trace him.
The motive behind the woman’s death can be ascertained after he is traced, they said.
Police Probe Underway
Police said the woman and the man had known each other since she was pursuing her MBBS course in Mahabubnagar district.
Further investigation was underway, police added.
