Five members of a family were found dead inside their home in Greater Noida on Saturday morning. Police suspect that poisoning may be linked to a long-running dispute over family property. The case initially appeared to involve food poisoning, but officials now suspect that a toxic substance may have been used.

Five family members were found dead in Greater Noida on Saturday, with police suspecting poisoning potentially linked to a property dispute after the father allegedly blamed relatives in an audio note.
Family Found Dead At Home
Mahesh, 37, his wife Lalita, 35, their daughter Mishti, 7, and their sons Laddu, 11, and Sakshat, 3, were found dead in a room at their home in Nagla Shri Padam village around 8 am on Saturday.
The family had visited a local fair on Friday evening and returned home around 10 pm. They reportedly ate noodles for dinner, leading to initial suspicions of food poisoning. However, police sources suspect that Mahesh mixed poison into the food.

Audio Note Raises Questions Over Family Dispute
According to a report by NDTV, an audio note was recovered from Mahesh’s phone. In the recording, he reportedly blamed his two sisters and brother-in-law for the deaths.
Police have taken the three relatives into custody. Their alleged role in the incident remains under investigation, and the allegations have not yet been established.
Property Dispute Adds To Suspicion
Neeraj, Mahesh’s sister-in-law, said that a long-running dispute over the division of family property had caused tension within the family.
She also alleged that she was forced to leave the house after her husband’s death. According to her, Mahesh had promised that the family would eventually live together again.
Officials Suspect Poisoning
Food safety officials who visited the house also suspected poisoning rather than ordinary food poisoning. They examined food wrappers and other items found at the scene but did not find any expired products.
Food Safety Officer OP Singh told PTI, “It does not appear to be a case of food poisoning. We suspect it is a case of poisoning involving a toxic substance,”
Singh said there was no information that the victims had suffered from vomiting or diarrhoea. He added that local residents reported seeing foam coming from the mouth of one of the children. The exact cause of the deaths remains to be established through the investigation.
