Banks will remain closed in several states and Union territories (UTs) over the coming days this week starting August 25 due to festivals and regional holidays including Onam and Milad-ul-Nabi. The Bank holidays will not apply across the country as bank closures depend on the state-wise holiday list issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Banks in several Indian states will close between August 25-28 for festivals including Onam, Milad-ul-Nabi, and Raksha Bandhan, based on RBI’s state-specific holiday list. Digital banking services like ATMs and online transfers will generally remain operational.

What can customers use on bank holidays?
Even when bank branches are closed, customers can continue to use most digital banking services. Online and mobile banking, UPI and ATMs will generally remain available, although some services may be temporarily affected by maintenance or technical issues.
Customers can also use digital channels for fund transfers and other routine banking transactions. Debit and credit cards, ATMs, standing instructions and several account-related services can also be accessed through online or self-service options.
As bank holidays vary from one state and city to another, customers planning a branch visit should check the RBI holiday calendar or contact their local bank branch in advance.
