Bengaluru’s wait for the Pink Line Metro could soon be over, with the safety clearance for the 7.5 km elevated stretch expected to reach the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) this week.
Construction of the elevated section is complete, and the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) has finished a three day inspection of the route. BMRCL is now waiting for the final report, which will clear the way for passenger services if approval is granted.
Bengaluru’s Pink Line Metro’s 7.5 km elevated stretch expects safety clearance this week after the CMRS inspection concluded; passenger services may launch near Ayudha Puja or Kannada Rajyotsava pending final approval.

The CMRS carried out the inspection last week. With the process completed, the fitness certificate is expected shortly. The stretch was earlier expected to open for commuters, but the launch was pushed back for various reasons.
Now, with the inspection done and the safety report awaited, the metro corporation is preparing for the next step. If the clearance arrives this week, the elevated section could open around Ayudha Puja or Kannada Rajyotsava, although the final date will depend on the approval and inauguration plans.
BMRCL has already begun preparations for the launch as commuters wait for the new stretch to become operational.
Once services begin, the elevated section is expected to make daily travel easier for people living and working in the areas it serves. It will give commuters another public transport option and could help reduce the time they spend travelling on Bengaluru’s busy roads.
