The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said it stopped a 3.8 million-packet denial-of-service attack on its website on Wednesday. The board also said the verification and re-evaluation portal received over 56,000 applications by 9:30 pm. CBSE said technical teams were tracking performance and making changes to reduce delays for students.

CBSE said students could pay fees using gateways provided by State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda and Indian Bank. The board added that a bank account with these lenders was not needed. It also urged students to depend on official updates for accurate information during the online application and payment process.
CBSE verification and re-evaluation portal payment gateways
In a post on X, the SBI said that its payment gateway with the CBSE has till now processed more than 40,000 payments successfully. The same portal also showed other options for fee payment. CBSE said the full process, including fee payment, was being handled through digital mode without offline submissions.
Indian Bank said, “Indian Bank is pleased to inform that the bank has successfully implemented a payment gateway solution for students of CBSE for making payments securely through UPI, internet banking, debit cards and credit cards of all banks.Over 5,000 customers having bank accounts with different banks have utilised our payment gateway to remit the fee so far,\” according to its post on X.
Canara Bank said, \”It is a pleasure for Canara Bank that our payment gateway services have been extended to CBSE for the benefit of students, enabling payments in a secured manner through UPI, credit & debit cards and internet banking supporting customers of all banks. Over 4,000 customers spanning different banks have utilised our payment gateway to deposit the fee so far.\”
Bank of Baroda said it set up a payment gateway for CBSE students across banks. It said payments could be made through UPI, debit cards, credit cards and internet banking. Bank of Baroda added, \”More than 7,500 transactions have been successfully processed through the banks payment gateway so far,\” as per its statement.
CBSE verification and re-evaluation portal timeline and eligibility
The online portal for verification and re-evaluation went live on June 2, CBSE said. The board said it opened the portal on Tuesday for Class 12 students who were unhappy with evaluation. CBSE added that only students who already received scanned copies of evaluated answer books could use the facility.
CBSE said the portal would remain open till June 6 midnight. It said no offline requests would be accepted, and late submissions would be rejected. Students must log in on the CBSE website using an Aadhaar number. CBSE said Aadhaar-based checks were added for security, with alternatives for students without Aadhaar.
For students without Aadhaar, CBSE said Aadhaar details of parents, relatives or guardians could be used. The board said the Aadhaar name, date of birth and gender must match the person whose number is used. CBSE also said students should apply within the fixed timeline, and results would be shared after processing ends.
CBSE verification and re-evaluation portal fees and rules
CBSE said verification of issues in scanned copies cost Rs 100 per answer book. It added that re-evaluation would cost Rs 25 per question. Students can raise issues like missing pages or sheets, blurred pages, wrong answer books, missing maps, or marking against a different question paper set.
CBSE said students should include all subject requests before final submission. It said students may file only one application each for verification of issues and re-evaluation. CBSE added that once \”freeze and proceed to payment\” is selected, entries get locked and cannot be changed.
CBSE said an application counts as submitted only after payment succeeds online. It added that students may seek re-evaluation for one or more questions across subjects. Applicants must give details such as question number and page number when needed. CBSE said a visual guide and tutorial video were shared for support.
CBSE verification and re-evaluation portal cyberattack and access concerns
The portal launch came after a delay, as CBSE earlier expected applications to begin by May 29. The process also followed concerns about the on-screen marking OSM system for Class 12 exams. Students and parents reported glitches, payment failures and access problems during verification and re-evaluation.
CBSE earlier said malicious actors tried to disrupt services with cyberattacks. The board said a denial-of-service attack caused 1.5 million hits within two minutes. It also reported more than one lakh attempts at unauthorised file access. CBSE said it introduced longer session limits after student feedback.
On Wednesday, CBSE said it again blocked a denial-of-service attempt and continued system monitoring. It said improvements were being added to make the portal faster and smoother for students. With applications and payments running through June 6 midnight, CBSE reiterated that students should use official CBSE communications for updates.
