What was supposed to be a regular delivery turned out to be an extremely horrifying situation for a delivery person in Kanpur, who along with his bike fell into an uncovered sewerage pit on an ill-lit road stretch.

A delivery person in Kanpur fell into an uncovered sewerage pit on a poorly lit road late Tuesday evening, with the incident captured on CCTV, highlighting concerns as the pit was allegedly exposed for 15 days without adequate safety measures.
This incident, which happened late Tuesday evening, was recorded by a CCTV camera nearby, and the video has become a viral sensation. The rider can be seen falling into the hole in no time.
Delivery Agent Disappears Into Pit
CCTV video captures a man riding a motorcycle on the road during the night. The man is seen approaching the part of the road that is dark when he could not see the large gap there.
The video captures the instant in which the motorcycle falls into the hole. The abrupt fall resulted in the delivery agent being stuck under the road. People in the surrounding areas claimed to hear the screams and came running to the scene.

People cooperated to save the man and his motorcycle from the sewer. The delivery agent was hospitalized in a private hospital to receive first aid. The family shifted him to another hospital afterwards.
Open Pit Reportedly Left Exposed For Days
This event has brought up some concerns regarding the state of the road and the precautions surrounding the damaged sewer line.
As per the statements of local inhabitants, the opening of the sewer was open for approximately 15 days after the damage of the sewer line in the locality.
It was also argued by the locals that the road section had insufficient lighting facilities, which made it hard for motorists and pedestrians to spot the opening during the night. It was also argued that there were no appropriate barriers or warning signs on the pit on the road.
Viral CCTV Video Sparks Anger Online
The CCTV footage has now spread widely across platforms such as X and Instagram.
What has particularly shocked viewers is how quickly the rider disappears from the frame. The opening is difficult to notice in the darkness, leaving the rider seemingly with little time to react.
The incident has also renewed concerns about road safety, especially where damaged sewer lines or open manholes are left close to areas used by commuters.
Residents have demanded that the opening be secured immediately and that proper barricades and warning signs be installed to prevent another accident.
The incident has also prompted social media users to question how a large open pit could allegedly remain exposed for days without adequate safety arrangements.
