Cross complaints were submitted in Lucknow against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dinesh Pratap Singh after comments made in Raebareli. Police said no FIR has been registered in either case so far, but a probe has begun. Complainants cited the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act.

The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha filed a complaint at Hazratganj police station against Rahul Gandhi. The outfit objected to a rally speech in Amethi. It alleged Rahul Gandhi called Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the RSS traitors. Spokesperson Shishir Chaturvedi said the remarks hurt \”the sentiments of crores of people\”.

Shishir Chaturvedi said the speech was seen on a television news channel on May 20. The complaint also mentioned objections raised on social media over the same remarks. Police officers confirmed receipt of the complaint. Police said an inquiry was being conducted before any FIR decision.

Congress workers also moved police against Dinesh Pratap Singh at Hussainganj police station. The complaint sought an FIR over alleged objectionable remarks against Rahul Gandhi and the Gandhi family. Congress worker Nitant Singh alias Nitin submitted the complaint. District Congress president Rudradaman Singh Chauhan alias Bablu was present.

The Congress complaint alleged Dinesh Pratap Singh referred to the Gandhi family as traitors. Congress workers said the comments hurt party sentiments. Congress leaders claimed videos of the remarks circulated online. Links and other material evidence were submitted to police. The complaint asked for action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita BNS and the IT Act.

During the dispute, UP Congress chief Ajay Rai repeated support for Rahul Gandhi’s comment. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Ajay Rai accused the BJP and the RSS of betrayal. \”What Rahul Gandhi said is absolutely true,\” Rai said. Ajay Rai also alleged economic mismanagement by the Narendra Modi government.

Ajay Rai also accused the government of selling national assets to industrialist friends. Ajay Rai criticised the BJP over alleged paper leaks and unemployment. Ajay Rai pointed to the condition of universities. Ajay Rai alleged the RSS was shaping educational institutions through ideology. Ajay Rai also accused the prime minister of misleading people on foreign visits.

Ajay Rai referred to Prime Minister Modi’s recent interaction with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Ajay Rai said the country faced economic distress. Ajay Rai alleged the prime minister was \”making reels\” during the crisis. The BJP earlier criticised Rahul Gandhi over the alleged traitor remarks. The remarks were linked to a rally in Raebareli.

Lucknow police said both complaints were received and were being examined. Officers said they had not filed an FIR in either case so far. Police said enquiries were underway, based on material provided by both sides. Officials said the next legal steps would depend on findings under applicable laws.
