Delhi-NCR was shaken by earthquake tremors on Tuesday night after a magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake was recorded at 10:23 pm IST and occurred at a depth of 13 kilometres.

Tremors from an earthquake were experienced in Delhi-NCR and Uttarakhand on Monday night, but official details on the magnitude, epicentre, and depth are still pending confirmation.
Earthquake Recorded Near Joshimath
The NCS said the epicentre was located 50 kilometres south of Joshimath in Uttarakhand. The shaking was felt across parts of Delhi-NCR, although there were no immediate reports of major damage or casualties.
The earthquake was relatively shallow, with its depth recorded at 13 kilometres. Details about the intensity of the shaking in different areas are still emerging.
Assam Also Recorded 4.5-Magnitude Earthquake
The Uttarakhand earthquake came on the same day as another significant seismic event in Assam. A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck Nagaon district at 4:23 am IST, according to the NCS.
The Assam earthquake occurred at a depth of 33 kilometres. Its epicentre was recorded at latitude 26.428 North and longitude 93.060 East.
2.5-Magnitude Earthquake Hit Himachal Pradesh
Earlier, on 5 October, Himachal Pradesh’s Una recorded a magnitude 2.5 earthquake. The tremor occurred at 11:48 pm IST, with the epicentre located at latitude 31.618 North and longitude 76.301 East.
The NCS said the earthquake was recorded at a shallow depth of 9 kilometres.
