Days after stepping down from Education Minister of India’s post, BJP MP Dharmendra Pradhan today visited Parliament for the first time. Talking to the media, Dharmendra Pradhan called himself a “street fighter”.
To welcome Dharmendra Pradhan, several NDA MPs gathered at Parliament’s Makar Dwar and received him with bouquet of flowers. Pradhan was also presented a ceremonial cap as a show of solidarity, to which, former Minister thanked with a big smile and hugs.
BJP MP Dharmendra Pradhan visited Parliament after resigning as Education Minister, describing himself as a “street fighter” while being welcomed by NDA MPs following discussions related to NEET irregularities.
This happened when Jairam Ramesh approached Dharmendra Pradhan to sarcastically express sympathy over his resignation.
“It happens,” Congress’ Jairam Ramesh said. Pradhan was quick to fire back. He said, “Nothing happened.” “I am a street fighter. Not an AC room activist.”
The altercation between top two MPs of Congress and BJP showed heated situation over NEET irregularities and minister’s resignation.
Dharmendra Pradhan hails from a RSS background and he initially served as youth president at Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. He was popular for students protest in 1967. After which, he became a big name for BJP in Odisha.
If reports are to be believed, Dharmendra Pradhan is likely to get electoral responsibilities. However, it will be interesting to see what new role PM Modi assigns to Dharmendra Pradhan.
