The White House announced on Saturday, September 9, that President Donald Trump has signed the Russia and Iran sanctions bill, called the Lindsay O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, into law. The new law, passed in the US House of Representatives earlier, will give the Trump administration sweeping powers to impose tariffs.

“On Friday, September 18, 2026, the President signed into law: H.R. 5334, the ‘Lindsay O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026,’ which authorizes and expands statutory sanctions, tariffs, and prohibitions on Russia and extends existing sanctions on Iran” a September 18 release from the White House read.
