Kannada actor Duniya Vijay’s son Samrat and four of his friends have been accused of kidnapping and brutally assaulting a first-year BBA student at RV University following a dispute over overtaking a car on Bengaluru-Mysuru Road.
The alleged victim, Manish Gowda, lodged a complaint at the Kengeri police station on Tuesday. According to the FIR, Gowda was parking his two-wheeler behind RV University on Bengaluru-Mysuru Road around 12:10 pm when a group of five men in a white Tata Safari pulled up and allegedly forced him into the vehicle.
Kengeri police registered a kidnapping and assault case against actor Duniya Vijay’s son Samrat and four others accused by RV University student Manish Gowda of attacking him following a road dispute on Bengaluru-Mysuru Road.
Gowda alleged that the group assaulted him inside the moving SUV and continued beating him after stopping near a bar at Pattanagere in RR Nagar. The group later allegedly dumped him near the college parking lot and fled. A friend then rushed the bleeding student to a private hospital.
The alleged attack was triggered by an incident that occurred a day earlier. On Monday, Gowda had overtaken an SUV being driven by Samrat near RR Nagar. This led to a heated exchange between the two groups, according to the complaint, which allegedly culminated in the attack the following day.
Interestingly, both Samrat and the alleged victim are students at the same institution, RV University. Police have confirmed that Samrat is enrolled at the university.
The Kengeri police have registered a case of kidnapping and assault. No arrests have been made so far, though police said they have launched a search for the accused.
Gowda’s family has demanded strict action, expressing shock that a minor road dispute allegedly escalated into a violent attack.
In his complaint, Gowda alleged, “They beat me up after forcefully pulling me inside the SUV. Samrat was my friend’s friend. We did not have any other issues. I had just overtaken his car in RR Nagar the previous day. I was on my way home when the incident occurred. They threatened me not to inform anyone about the incident, failing which I would be attacked again. Samrat threatened me, saying that nobody could do anything to him.”
The incident has also raised concerns over road rage cases in Bengaluru, with several people taking to social media to express outrage over the alleged violence. Samrat has not yet issued a statement regarding the allegations.
