Television actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee has now made an emotional appeal, she is been crying over seeing the situation of devastating flood in several parts of Assam. While live on Facebook LIVE session, Devoleena said that her mother is struck in flood-hit Nazira, while her grandmother and other relatives have lost their ancestral homes. With this Devoleena also has urged people to contribute to relief funds and efforts for Assam floods.

Television actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee expressed distress over the Assam floods, highlighting her mother’s situation in Nazira and relatives losing homes. The Assam government has released ₹160 crore as interim relief for affected households, with the statewide death toll reaching 85.

Devoleena Shares Family’s Pain Amid Flood Crisis

In the emotional video, Devoleena first made apologies for not speaking about flood situation earlier and said she had to control her emotions before speaking about the issue.

“I’m so sorry. This is the reason I haven’t been able to make a video. I knew I would break down,” she said.

While sharing her roots in Assam, she added, “Sivasagar and Nazira are where I grew up. I was born there, and my schooling and college were all there. Sadly and unfortunately, my mother is still stuck in Nazira. By God’s grace, our old house is in an area that hasn’t been completely flooded.”

The actress also claimed that the flood has affected her grandmother and aunt’s homes in the area.

“Everything is finished. Nothing is left. As you can see in the videos, there is absolutely nothing remaining,” she also added.

Actor Continues Relief Efforts for Assam

Even when she is feeling depressed about the situation her family is facing, Devoleena has continued her support for the Assam relief operations. She also shared in her Instagram stories how truck loaded with essential supplies are being sent to affected areas and also encouraged others to support.

Although, many celebrities have always supported the cause and always raised their voice for help in these natural disasters. Now Devoleena is consistent in sharing worsen situation in Assam.

Assam Government Releases ₹160 Crore Interim Relief

According to government officials, Assam government has released first 160 crore rupees tranche as interim relief for more than 75,000 households in many affected areas in Assam.

Families who have faced severe damage at their homes in areas like Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat districts received 15,000 rupees each.

Even the official death toll in Assam has reached to 85 after three more death reported.

Devoleena’s Marriage With Shanwaz Shaikh

Interestingly, Devoleena’s marriage with fitness and gym trainer Shanwaz Shaikh in 2022 got a lot of hate and controversy. She married Shanwaz on 14 December 2022, and they welcomed their first child a baby boy on 18 December 2024.
