The OTT release of blockbuster sequel Dhurandhar 2 has triggered a major confusion among fans after streaming giants Netflix and Jio Hotstar shared seemingly contradictory announcements over the past few days. While many movie lovers believed the film’s digital premiere had been advanced to this weekend, the reality appears to be very different.
Is Dhurandhar 2 Releasing In Netflix or Jio Hotstar?
Over the weekend, audiences across India had been eagerly refreshing Netflix and Jio Hotstar in anticipation of the online release of what is being hailed as one of the biggest commercial hits of the year. Speculation intensified after several social media posts from both platforms began circulating widely online.
Confusion emerged regarding the OTT release of Dhurandhar 2, as Netflix announced the uncensored original film internationally for May 22, while JioHotstar confirmed Dhurandhar: The Revenge will premiere on June 5.
It was then reported that Netflix had released Dhurandhar 2 for the overseas audience. Later, Jio Hotstar then officially confirmed that Dhurandhar: The Revenge, widely referred to by fans as Dhurandhar 2 – would premiere on the platform in early June. In its promotional announcement, the streaming service wrote: “Aandhi banke jo aa raha hai usse DHURANDHAR kehte hain. 🔥 Watch Dhurandhar The Revenge, Raw & Undekha. Grand Digital Premiere on June 4th at 7 PM, starts streaming from June 5th only on JioHotstar.”
Fans believed the matter had been settled. However, things took a dramatic turn today after Netflix published another promotional post that read: “Watch Dhurandhar Raw & Undekha, out 22 May in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on Netflix.”
The announcement instantly sent social media into a frenzy. Thousands of fans assumed that Dhurandhar 2 was arriving earlier than expected and that Netflix had somehow secured the digital rights for a surprise release. Excitement spread rapidly across fan pages and discussion forums, with many celebrating what they believed was an unexpected OTT drop.

Dhurandhar Raw and Undekha
But the excitement was short-lived.
Several social media users soon clarified that Netflix’s announcement was not related to Dhurandhar 2 at all. Instead, the platform was reportedly referring to an uncensored “Raw & Undekha” version of the first Dhurandhar film, which is set to stream internationally.
One user explained the situation clearly in a viral comment: “For those who still don’t get it, this is about DHURANDHAR 1 (2025). Part 1’s uncensored version will be released on Netflix on 22nd May meanwhile Part 2 will come on Hotstar on 4th June.”
Netizens Slams Netflix
Another fan echoed the same clarification, writing: “Relax boys, ‘Dhurandhar 1’ hai. Dhurandhar – The Revenge Hotstar pe aayega June me.”
Despite the clarification, many fans were left frustrated by the promotional strategy adopted by the streaming platforms. Several users accused the services of creating unnecessary confusion with vague wording and overlapping titles.
One disappointed fan commented, “Just show us absolute cinema once, yaar. Teasing over and over isn’t cool.”
Another angry netizen slammed the streaming platform, writing, “Idiots, how much confusion you guys create?”
The episode once again highlights how aggressive digital marketing campaigns and cryptic social media promotions can sometimes backfire, especially when dealing with highly anticipated sequels. For now, fans awaiting Dhurandhar 2 will still have to wait until June 5 for its official streaming debut on JioHotstar, while Netflix’s May 22 release appears to be limited to the uncensored version of the original film.
