The devastating fire at a coaching centre in Lucknow’s Aliganj area has prompted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to cancel all his official engagements scheduled for June 23. The tragedy claimed at least 15 lives and left several others injured, triggering a massive rescue and relief operation.

CM Yogi Returns to Lucknow, Visits Fire Site
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was attending an inauguration and foundation stone-laying programme for development projects in Aligarh when news of the fire reached him. Upon receiving information about the incident, he immediately cut short his visit and left for Lucknow.
The Chief Minister went directly to the fire-affected site in Aliganj, where he reviewed the situation and received a detailed briefing from officials. He later visited King George’s Medical University (KGMU) and met injured students and their family members undergoing treatment.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Yogi Adityanath also cancelled all official programmes scheduled for Tuesday. He was expected to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 143 development projects worth ₹548 crore in Hathras and later chair meetings in Agra to review development works and the law-and-order situation.
Victims Identified as Families Reach Mortuary
Authorities have begun identifying victims whose bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. Family members continued to arrive at the mortuary throughout the day, while officials stated that identification of some bodies was still pending.

- Abdul Rahman, 24
A separate list released by local authorities also mentioned additional victims, taking the total reported death toll to 15.
List of Deceased and Injured Released
Documents circulating after the incident identified 15 deceased persons, including Sagar, Nilesh, Anamika, Shyam, Anuradha, Sukhmani, Aditya Srivastava, Jyoti, Bhavishya, Abdul Rahman, Suraj Bhatt, Maulana, Joynal Chakraborty, Mohammad Ammar and Sumaiya.
Officials also released the names of nine injured persons receiving treatment. They include Jayant, Tapjeet, Mohammad Arif, Suman Srivastava, Pankaj, Shailendra, Abhishek, Pankaj Joshi and Gaurav Kumar.
Investigation Underway Into Cause of Fire
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the blaze and assess whether safety norms were followed at the coaching centre. Rescue teams, police personnel and district administration officials remained at the site as forensic and technical examinations continued.
The incident has sparked concerns over fire safety measures in educational institutions across the state. Officials have assured that responsibility will be fixed once the investigation is completed, while relief and support efforts for affected families continue.
