Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat, who had worked in films and television, has died at the age of 74 after a battle with blood cancer.
As reported by several media outlets, Rawat had been admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai for treatment. He had been suffering from blood cancer.

Actor Yashpal Sharma paid tribute to his colleague on Instagram as news of his passing broke out.

With a career spanning over three decades, Pradeep Rawat had become one of India’s most dependable character actors, starring in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam films. He had played the fearsome villain in the movie Ghajini , for which he received critical acclaim. He later reprised the role opposite Aamir Khan in the 2008 Hindi remake of Ghajini . Prior to that, the two had starred together in the film Lagaan .
For television viewers, Pradeep Rawat will be remembered for his role as Ashwatthama in the mythological series Mahabharat . While he made his film debut in Meri Jung , he eventually became a household name with his role in Mahabharat .
Some of his other popular works include Sarfarosh , The Hero: Love Story of a Spy , Stalin , Veeram , Nenokkadine , Loukyam , Nenu Sailaja , Sarrainodu , Nene Raju Nene Mantri , Aayirathil Iruvar, Market Raja MBBS , and Miss Match.
