The Ministry of Education that has been limelight since a few months has extended the submission deadline for National Poetry Festival 2026 to 15 August 2026. That has now given Classes 9 to 12 students time to participate in nationwide poetry recitation competition.
The Ministry of Education extended the National Poetry Festival 2026 submission deadline to 15 August 2026; Classes 9-12 students can submit 60-90 second poem videos via the ReP platform, banning AI use and awarding Certificates of Excellence.
This initiative is to help and encourage young students to show their talent of public speaking and literary skills that gives the promotion for the appreciation for poetry through national platform.
Ministry Invites More Students to Join
Ministry of Education announced the extended deadline on X, “Thousands of children from across the country are enthusiastically participating in the National Poetry Festival!”
The Education Ministry also encouraged the students who are eligible to take participation in this initiative. By posting, “Don’t miss this golden opportunity to showcase your poetry recitation talent on the national stage.”

The competition is designed for the students of Classes 9 to 12 in any recognised schools in India and participation is not free of cost.
How Students Can Participate
Now students can register in this initiative through Rashtriya e-Pustakalay (ReP) website or mobile application. The participation should choose the poem listed in the platform and submit a video while recitation of the poem.
According to the guidelines, the video should be 60 to 90 seconds long and should have a clear audio and participation’s face visible in the recording. The video should include any background music and the students can upload their videos on their account or through their parents account.
AI Use Not Allowed in Competition
The use of AI has strictly been banned by the ministry during the participation in the festival. The competition is designed to get student’s original recitation skills. This initiative is designed to know student’s skills, pronunciation, expression and presentation.
The government has made National Petry Festival to promote reading habits, language skills and cultural appreciation between the students through digital platforms like Rashtriya e-Pustakalay.
Certificates for Winners and Participants
According to the announcement made by Education Ministry, the top 10 participations will now get the Certificate of Excellence. Only the participation students those entries meet with guidelines will be awarded only.
Now when the deadline is extended till 15 August and eligible students have extra time to prepare and submit their videos for the national competition.
