PM Narendra Modi on Friday participated in a Bhajan Clubbing program held at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park, Delhi, as part of the celebration of 110 years of birth of Bharatiya Jana Sangh’s leader, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
PM Narendra Modi attended a Bhajan Clubbing program in Delhi’s Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park, marking the 110th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, where he listened to devotional songs and played the tambourine.
At the Bhajan Clubbing event, PM Modi heard devotional songs, and was seen clapping with the performers. The PM also participated in the event by playing tambourine. Upon arriving at the event, Modi waved to the crowd waiting there for him.
The Bhajan Clubbing event witnessed the participation of devotees and music lovers, where Bhajans were performed in a unique club format.
The irony is the Prime Minister’s participation in the ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ event came amid a protest by Congress workers in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Congress protesters demanding his resignation were detained by police, with visuals showing some demonstrators being pulled and dragged away during the action.
While the protesters were on the streets raising slogans and pressing their demand, PM Modi was at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park, listening to bhajans, clapping along and playing a tambourine during the devotional gathering.

What Is ‘Bhajan Clubbing’?
A new mode of participating in devotional music called “Bhajan Clubbing” has been witnessed, especially among the youth. Rather than having traditional religious functions, large crowds gather at community centers and engage in singing or listening to bhajans.
The phenomenon has been discussed because of the introduction of certain aspects of social gatherings into devotional functions. The youth often sing along to popular bhajans while enjoying their time with friends and other people from the community.
This phenomenon has been discussed by Modi before as an example of blending spirituality with modern times.

PM Modi Has Praised The Trend Before
In January, during his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, Modi spoke about the growing popularity of ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ among young Indians.
He said the trend was being embraced by Gen Z and described it as a combination of devotion, culture, spirituality and modernity. Modi also compared large bhajan gatherings with global concerts, while stressing that the devotional nature of the songs remained central.
He said the trend showed how young people were finding new ways to stay connected with Indian traditions and spirituality.
Modi Mentioned Bhajan Clubbing During Australia Visit
The Prime Minister referred to ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ again during his visit to Australia in July.
While addressing the Indian community there, Modi said young Indians were finding new ways to connect with faith and spirituality. He also spoke about how community and cultural activities continue to bring people together among the Indian diaspora.
He mentioned examples such as Satyanarayan Katha at homes, Ardas at gurdwaras, children taking part in Bhangra and Bharatanatyam performances, and community cricket tournaments.
