A mobile phone was found with former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna inside Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Prison after Crime Branck did a surprise inspection last month. Now according to the reports, the mobile which allegedly Revanna was using had several porn videos in it. Now this has raised a question how mobile phone was allowed to him under the prison.
A mobile phone containing porn videos was found during a surprise August 11 inspection with former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is serving a life sentence in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, prompting questions about prison security.
Phone Found During August 11 Inspection
Crime Branch officers made a surprise prison inspection on 11 August when they caught Revanna using a mobile inside his barrack.
Then CBI officers took the phone, charger, a pen drive and a notebook in custody, later the mobile phone and pen drive were sent for forensic testing.
Now the forensic reports has found several porn videos on the phone, even the pen drive contain many web series.
Revanna Is Serving Life Sentence
Ex-MP Revanna is serving life sentence after he was convicted in rape case. He is the grandson of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda and nephew of Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
He was convicted in the rape case involving a 48-year-old women who worked as domestic help at Revanna family’s farmhouse in Holenarasipura, Hassan district. She accused Revanna of raping her from 2021 and she also alleged that he recorded the assault. He used to blackmail her and threatened to share the videos of she spoke about them.
Jail Authorities Face Questions
The phone recovery has brought renewed the question of security inside Parappana Agrahara Central Prison and how special treatment has been given to influential people.
After Revanna found with mobile phone, one jail official was suspended and an inquiry was ordered. Now investigation is going on how a mobile, charger and other electronic material entered in prison.
Why The Phone Case Matters
The prisoners are not allowed to keep personal mobile phones, SIM cards, or similar kind of any electronic devices. The approved communication is only allowed through monitored landlines, public call offices or designated video-calling facilities.
