Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji’s mother Krishna Mukerji passed away on Tuesday, 22 September afternoon. She was 75-years-old and the news of her death was confirmed by Yash Raj Films production house on behalf of Rani Mukerji. Rani Mukerji has married to producer-director Aditya Chopra.
Krishna Mukerji, 75, mother of actress Rani Mukerji and a former playback singer and film personality, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, September 22nd. The news was confirmed by Yash Raj Films.
The family thanked the people for their prayers, love and support after the death. They also asked for the privacy as they deal with the loss.
Yash Raj Films Confirms Death
Yash Raj Films production house shared a statement on social media confirmed Krishna Mukerji’s death. The statement read, “With heavy hearts, we share that Rani Mukerji’s mother Mrs Krishna Mukerji, 75, passed away this afternoon.”
However, the family has not shared the details about her death what circumstances she died. According to reports, she died following after a heart attack, but the social media statement has not confirmed it.
Krishna Mukerji had worked in Bengali and Hindi films both, She worked as a playback singer and associated in the films like Momer Alo, Haiwan, Teesri Aankh and Tomar Rakte Amar Sohag.
A Family With Strong Film Connections
Krishna Mukerji was married to filmmaker Ram Mukerji, who was director and producer and also co-founded Fimalaya Studios. The couple had two children Rani Mukerji and filmmaker Raja Mukerji. Ram Mukerji died in 2017 at the age of 84.
Krishna Mukerji also comes from a film family of Mukerji-Samarth family which has many popular faces coming from like actress Kajol and filmmaker Ayan Mukerji.
Rani Mukerji Spoke About Her Mother’s Influence
Rani Mukerji has often spoken about the important role her mother played in her life. Earlier this year, she recalled her childhood and said that her family faced financial difficulties while she was growing up.
Talking about her mother’s attitude during those years, Rani said, “It never came in the way of my mother’s happiness. Mom had a bright smile through it all. That’s something I have imbibed from her, that whatever the situation, smile through it all and go forward.”
Rani had also earlier described her mother as an important influence on her career, saying, “My mother has been a very big and strong influence in my life.”
Krishna Mukerji’s death is a major personal loss for Rani and her family. The family has asked for privacy while they mourn her passing.
