Apple has finally entered the foldable phone market, and Samsung did not waste much time reminding it who got there first.
Just hours after Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, Samsung’s US social media team began taking digs at the launch on X, formerly Twitter.
Apple launched its first foldable phone, the $1,999 iPhone Duo featuring a 7.6-inch display, prompting Samsung to publicly mock the late market entry and highlight its own experience with multiple generations of foldable devices, including tri-fold models.
One post summed up Samsung’s reaction rather bluntly: “Let us know when you’re done reheating our leftovers.”
Another post joked, “It’s feeling very familiar. Is this a Sims sequel?”
Samsung then took aim at the fact that Apple is only now entering a market where several Android phone makers have already released multiple generations of foldables.
“Making us wait? Fine. We’ll be over here, folding 3 ways,” Samsung posted, pointing to the tri-fold phones that have started appearing in the market.
It did not stop there. In another post, Samsung mocked Apple’s accessories, writing: “Accessories? It’s giving condiments and no food. #ItsTimeToSwitch.”
A final jab simply read: “So far, so same.”
Samsung’s confidence comes from its experience in the foldable market. The company launched its first Galaxy Fold in 2019. Since then, it has released several generations of foldable phones, while Google, Motorola and Chinese smartphone makers have also developed their own versions.
The early foldables came with plenty of complaints, including visible screen creases, concerns about hinge durability and the sheer weight of the devices. Manufacturers have spent years trying to improve those areas.
Apple, meanwhile, stayed away from the category until now.

That is what makes Samsung’s reaction particularly pointed. Apple is launching its first foldable at a time when rivals are already experimenting with more complicated designs, including phones that fold in three sections.
What does the iPhone Duo look like?
Apple’s first foldable costs $1,999 and opens out into a 7.6-inch display.
The screen can be used horizontally or vertically when the phone is unfolded. When it is closed, there is a smaller display on the front that works like a regular smartphone screen.
Apple has also made a point of the phone’s slim design. The company says the Duo is its thinnest iPhone when opened.
But it is not the thinnest foldable on the market. Some Chinese rivals already offer slimmer folding phones.
