Karthi is back with a sequel to his 2022 hit movie Sardar. PS Mithran has reunited with him for the latest movie which is released on Thursday.

Karthi returns in PS Mithran’s Sardar 2, reuniting with the director to play Agent Sardar and his son Vijay, who team up against villain Black Dagger (SJ Suryah) to thwart a global cyber-syndicate, blending action with flashbacks.

Sam CS has scored the music for Sardar 2 which has George C. Williams’ cinematography and Vijay Velukutty’s editing.
Veteran spy Agent Sardar Chandra Bose and his police inspector son, Vijay Prakash, team up to battle a ruthless, anonymous cyber-syndicate led by the antagonist Black Dagger, who uses global data manipulation to destabilize governments.
Pushed out of the shadows, Agent Sardar tackles a faceless, merciless enemy, while Vijay uncovers the modern-day conspiracy, bringing father and son together to avert a nationwide crisis.
The narrative alternates between contemporary high-stakes warfare and revealing flashbacks that explore the deeper origins of Sardar’s legendary career.
The movie has garnered a good pre-release buzz. Will it live up to the viewers’ expectations? Find out from their comments below:
Prashanth Rangaswamy: #Sardar2 interval – staggering data research , sincere art work !
Karthi carries everything on his shoulders .
Let’s wait for the second half !
Movies Singapore: #Sardar2 – TWIST π³π₯ 1st half surprisingly opens to POSITIVE REVIEWS in domestic (India) shows from reviewers and general audiences. Apparently, audiences are liking the movie’s direct-to-story approach, backed by good research, story, grandeur, and action, which has made it a highly entertaining and engaging watch thus far.
#SJSuryah’s Black Dragon π villain has 2 appearances present, grand #Sardar flashback, and then the present interval approach with a mysterious mission is met with a high response among audiences.
Christopher Kanagaraj: #Sardar2 – Karthi justifies d dual roles. SJ. Surya characterzn weak. Poor BGM, CGI. Gud thing is No Deviation from d core spy plot with unwanted songs/luv track. Antibiotics Message Nice. Convenient writing, 0 Logic, no twists, Lengthy & Pointless Action blocks. DISAPPOINTMENT!
AndhraBoxOffice.Com: #Sardar2 – DULL!
A Tediously Dull spy thriller, all scale and no substance.
Karthi’s dual role can’t mask a script that relies more on franchise familiarity than fresh stakes, while SJ Suryah’s villainy is mildly irritating and lacks depth.
The first half teases intrigue, but the second half drags endlessly stuffed with formulaic turns and logic gaps that drain any real tension. The nearly three-hour runtime tests patience more than it delivers excitement, with shaky VFX and writing that feels overly explained.

Kolly Censor:π¬ #Sardar2 – As usual a banger first half in Ps Mithran style. Codings, Technology, Missions, blast everything in an engaging factor with a story core connect. Keeps exciting for the second half. SAM CS could have done a better job in music.
Movie Tamil: #Sardar2 – First Half Decent, while the Second Half is better with Fun & a Social Message. π₯
The film continues from the success of Sardar, with a new weapon-based threat posing a major problem for India and Sardar stepping in to stop it.
β’ #Karthi in dual roles – Sardar character is superb π₯
β’ #MalavikaMohanan – Small role
β’ #AshikaRanganath – Superb character & performance
β’ #SJSuryah – A different kind of villain role; he nails it with his performance π₯
β’ #YogiBabu Γ SJ Suryah – 10-minute comedy + social message scene is a highlight ππ₯
β’ Pre-Interval & Interval – Superb
β’ #SamCS – Decent music & BGM
β’ Action sequences – Okay level
β’ First Half has a few emotional moments
β’ Second Half has a few lag moments
β’ Climax ends with an action-packed sequence
Not on the level of #IrumbuThirai or #Sardar, but this is a decent one-time-watch film from #PSMithran with a relevant social message.

MalayalamReview: In the early stages of his career, Karthi was known for his consistency and impressive winning streak. But that momentum seems to have faded now, with #Sardar2 receiving a very poor report.
Hoping Karthi bounces back strongly with his next!
Siddarth Srinivas: #Sardar2 Interval: Info and action packed first half that is very technical in its talkie and splendid when it comes to the stunt sequences. Karthi is earnest, SJS yet to fire up fully. Production values, stunt choreography and cinematography deserve praise.
Jashwanth Reddy: #Sardar2 REVIEW : A Stylish Action Entertainer With Strong Ideas!
PS Mithran delivers an engaging narrative with an interesting setup, meaningful themes, and plenty of action. The film takes its story seriously and builds a solid emotional core around its characters. The performances, production values, action blocks, and Sam CS’s background score elevate the overall experience.
The pacing may feel slightly stretched in parts, but the film makes up for it with its scale, visuals, and impactful moments.
A solid theatrical experience that delivers on its promise.
Rating: 3/5
CinemaXverse: #Sardar2 Review: A Mission That Never Takes Off! π¨
The film sticks to its mission without unnecessary detours, but the execution is way too over-the-top. Impossible stunts and loud action make the serious moments feel silly and unconvincing. Not a single major block lands, including #Karthi’s senior Sardar portions, while SJ Suryah adds more noise than impact.
No songs, no unnecessary distractions – yet the film struggles to deliver the impact it promises.
A BIG second half was needed, but the mission never takes off.
