The Bar Council of India (BCI) has suspended the law license of Bhopal-based advocate Samarth Singh with immediate effect in connection with the Twisha Sharma death case.
The action came ten days after his wife, former Miss Pune Twisha Sharma, was found hanging under suspicious circumstances at their home in Bhopal.
Amid allegations of murder and harassment by Twisha Sharma’s family, the Bar Council of India suspended advocate Samarth Singh’s license due to his connection with the suspicious death of his wife, former Miss Pune Twisha Sharma, found deceased May 12th in Bhopal.
The case has sparked nationwide attention after Twisha’s family alleged murder, harassment and physical abuse.
Bar Council Suspends Samarth Singh
In an official statement, BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra announced that Samarth Singh has been suspended from practicing as an advocate with immediate effect.
The suspension will remain in place pending further consideration by the Bar Council.
The decision came shortly after Samarth Singh was taken into police custody over allegations connected to Twisha Sharma’s death.

Twisha Sharma Found Dead In Bhopal Home
Twisha Sharma, a former beauty pageant winner popularly known as former Miss Pune, was found hanging at her matrimonial home in the Katara Hills area on the night of May 12.
She had married Samarth Singh in December 2025, only around five months before her death. The official post-mortem report stated that the cause of death was hanging. However, the case quickly became controversial after Twisha’s family raised serious allegations against her husband and in-laws.
Family Alleges Murder And Harassment
Twisha’s family claimed that there were multiple injury marks on her body and alleged that she was murdered and did not die by suicide.
The family has repeatedly demanded a deeper investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Another serious allegation made by the family was that Twisha had earlier terminated a pregnancy after Samarth Singh allegedly questioned the paternity of the child and accused her of having an extra-marital affair.
These allegations have intensified public outrage and increased scrutiny around the case.
Samarth Singh Tried To Surrender In Jabalpur
After reportedly remaining absconding for nearly ten days following Twisha’s death, Samarth Singh appeared publicly on Friday when he reached a court in Jabalpur to surrender.
However, the divisional judge reportedly refused to accept the surrender and directed him to surrender before the appropriate court in Bhopal, where the alleged crime took place.
According to reports, Samarth Singh’s lawyer argued that his client feared for his safety if he appeared in Bhopal directly.
Twisha’s Lawyer Calls Move A ‘Gimmick’
Twisha Sharma’s lawyer, Anurag Shrivastava, criticised the surrender attempt and claimed Samarth Singh was using legal tactics to avoid proper procedure.
He reportedly stated that Samarth should have surrendered before the Bhopal court instead of approaching the Jabalpur court.
The lawyer also questioned the delay in surrendering after remaining untraceable for several days.
Public Attention Continues To Grow
The Twisha Sharma death case has become one of the most discussed cases in recent weeks, especially due to allegations of harassment, suspicious injuries and questions surrounding the investigation.
The suspension of Samarth Singh’s bar license is being seen as a major development in the matter.
