The United States has advised its citizens in several West Asian countries to consider leaving the region as fears grow over a possible escalation in the conflict with Iran. The advisory comes after fresh exchanges of fire between the US and Iran, renewed attacks on commercial shipping, and rising tensions around key maritime routes.
The US advised citizens in West Asian nations such as Jordan, Iraq, and Israel to consider departing due to escalating conflict fears with Iran, following renewed military exchanges, threats to shipping near the Strait of Hormuz, and drone attacks damaging infrastructure in Kuwait.
Security alerts have been issued by US embassies in countries including Jordan, Iraq and Israel, asking American citizens to stay alert and prepare for possible disruptions.
US Issues Fresh Security Advisory
The US embassies in Amman, Jerusalem and Baghdad have urged Americans in the region to consider departing if the security situation worsens.
The advisory warned that the conflict could lead to flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures and travel disruptions. It also asked US citizens to closely monitor local developments, follow instructions from local authorities and keep travel plans flexible.
The warning follows renewed military exchanges between the United States and Iran after a brief pause in hostilities.
Trump Warns of More Military Action
US President Donald Trump indicated that Washington is prepared to continue military operations if required.
Speaking during a Cabinet meeting at Camp David, Trump said the United States would respond strongly if necessary and signalled that further strikes against Iran remained an option.
His remarks have added to concerns that the conflict could expand further in the coming days.
Iran Warns Regional Countries
Iran has accused the United States of increasing tensions across West Asia.
Iranian military officials warned that countries supporting or assisting US military operations could also face consequences if the conflict escalates.
The statement reflects growing concern that the crisis could spread beyond the two countries and involve other nations in the region.
Drone Strike Reported in Kuwait
Kuwait’s military said it responded to drone attacks targeting several important facilities in the country.
According to officials, the strikes damaged some infrastructure, but no casualties were reported.
Authorities are continuing to assess the damage while maintaining heightened security.
Shipping Routes Face Fresh Threats
The conflict is also affecting international shipping.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported two separate incidents involving oil tankers near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes.
In one incident, a tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile, damaging its engine room. In another case, the crew of a nearby vessel reported an explosion close to their ship.
No injuries or environmental damage have been reported so far, but the incidents have increased concerns about the safety of commercial vessels operating in the region.
