Incident Comes Amid Telangana Political Tensions

Raju’s death came as the Telangana Assembly was witnessing a tense political atmosphere. The ruling Congress and opposition BRS were engaged in a dispute following alleged derogatory remarks against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.

Two BRS MLCs, T Madhusudan Rao and N Naveen Kumar Reddy, were arrested in connection with the remarks. BRS leaders also protested against the police action.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy described the developments as a “black day” for Telangana. BRS working president K T Rama Rao also alleged that the police were treating Congress and BRS leaders differently. The government and police were yet to give a detailed response to those allegations in the reports available at the time.
